„Good.", Levi answered, setting his book down and moving over to the dark brown leather couch in front of the fireplace. You still couldn't get over how alluringly beautiful he looked in the dim lighting of the room.
„Wait here. I'll go make us tea.", he said shortly before he stepped out of the room, softly closing the door behind him. You sighed quietly to yourself as you laid your cold hand on your burning forehead. Together with Levi, the tension had left the room, letting relief wash over you. You didn't know where this evening was going to lead so a certain shakiness and giddiness remained, together with the sheer storm of thoughts, mostly of inappropriate nature, inside of your head. You carefully walked towards Levi's bookcases, interested in what your superior liked to read. You've never had that much access to books of any kind as they were quite expensive. The amount of intricate detailing on their covers and masterfully bound spines immediately drew you in. Golden swirls, embossed flowers, red leather and hardcovers, Levi owned all of it. From what you could tell, it was mostly stories about what lied beyond the walls, romanticized dreams of freedom. You weren't aware of Levi's softer side yet, so the sight of what was in his bookshelves set a small smile on your face. By the amount of breaks in their spines and scratches on their leathery covers had shown you exactly how many times he's read each and every one of those books.

Your gaze lifted and immediately set on the captain's side table. A book like none other his collection was carefully set down as he had been reading it before you went to knock on his door. It was bound in black leather which was rare. Black pigments were ridiculously expensive , so you were immediately drawn to it. Just as you were about to pick it up, you heard Levi's voice very close to you. You flinched as he set his hands on your shoulder and softly pulled your hair back, revealing the sides of your neck. His touch was incredibly soft as he only touched your skin with the very tips of his fingers.

„Interested in my books, are we?", Levi asked, obviously amused by your startled expression. „I didn't mean to startle you, but you looked so focused I just had to.", he continued. „I'm sorry I should've asked before.", you said, carefully setting down the black book. Levi's fingers continued playing with your hair, teasingly running down from the side of your neck to your shoulder, up behind your ear and through your hair yet again. You easily got lost in the sweet sensation as an overwhelming sense of peace washed over you. „You look awfully tired, Kirstein.", Levi said, ignoring what you had said before, just earning a nod from you. You could tell that there still was tension in the air and unspoken words as well as undeniable attraction. His sudden softness baffled you and further added to the sheer storm swirling in your head. Your heart beat was calm and you felt at ease but at the same time anxiety and confusion surged through every fiber of your being. It was quite exciting, actually. You couldn't see Levi's face and that had you on edge. What was he thinking?
The sensation of his lips on your neck suddenly stalled your thinking and shot up your formerly calm and eased heartbeat. You didn't know what to do so you just blissfully closed your eyes, deeply enjoying the foreign feeling. His lips left a trail from your shoulder, over the side of your neck, up to your ear.

„Tea is ready.", Levi said, not being able to hide his amusement as his lips left your neck.
„I hate you, captain.", you answered with a slight shake in your voice. You groggily walked over to Levi's desk, whilst fixing your shirt. Levi scooted a cup of hot tea over to your side as you got comfortable in your usual seat. „Why?", you muttered as you sighed and took the hot cup of tea in your hands. „Did you say anything, cadet?", Levi laughed to himself, seemingly focused on a stack of paper set in front of him. Of course he had paperwork to do.
It seemed like hours just wasted away with meaningless, almost pretentious smalltalk with the occasional comforting silence thrown into it. „You did really well today, with the fighting, I'm proud of you.", Levi mumbled, finally setting a final signature under yet another daily training report. His eyes tiredly scanned over it once more before setting the last paper aside on a dedicated stack. „Thank you, captain. I did my best.", you answered, heart fluttering because of him praising you.
