- A M E L I A P A R K E R -
It's been a week since the basketball game. A week since I've encountered the gorgeous mysterious man. I'm currently walking around campus when I notice that the library is looking for help. I mentally throw a fist in the air and I run into the building.
Wow.
The library is beautiful. The inside reminds me of the Renaissance. Very old fashioned and the interior is dark and pristine. I love it.
I skip to the front desk and ask for an application. The woman in front of me looks up at me and immediately smiles. "Why hello, dear. No need for an application, we usually don't get help around here." I look at her sadly. How can anyone not want to work in this library? It's absolutely beautiful in here. "That's so sad." I say with a pause. "I love books, so when I saw the sign said that you needed help, I sprinted in here." I laugh and so does the kind woman.
"That's lovely dear. I'm Mrs. Fane." She says to me and I jump up excitedly. "Oh!" I shoot my hand out. "I'm Amelia Parker!" She laughs at my exasperation and takes my hand in hers. "A pleasure to meet you. When can you start?" She asks me as she starts walking around the front desk to stand right in front of me. "Right now!" I say with a big smile. "Excellent! Would you mind starting with sorting out all those books over there and placing them in the correct places?" I look over to the books she's pointing at and I give her a nod, making my way to the books.
After a few hours of organizing books, I finally leave the library. It's almost 5pm, so I'm going to grab something to eat. But then I stop when I realize that I don't have any money. I frown and my stomach growls, causing me to frown even more. I turn around to walk back to my apartment, when I bump into something hard.
I fall back and land on my butt, causing the dress I'm wearing to ride up to show my thighs. I hear a curse and then I'm being lifted up. I look up and find green eyes staring at my chestnut ones. It's the mystery man.
"Hi!" I say sheepishly. He looks down at my dress and then back at my face with furrows brows. I look at him confused. "Too short."
What?
"Huh?" I say and look down at my dress. It's a pretty light pink one that ruffles at the hem. I smile and start swaying, watching the dress move with my movement. I feel strong hands grasp my shoulders to stop me and I look back up at the man in front of me and frown. "You don't like my dress?" I say sadly. It's a really pretty dress. I hope he likes it.
He looks at me for a moment before dropping is hands and walking away, but not before my stomach decides at that moment to growl again. He halts his movements and looks back at me. I give him an awkward smile and I hold my stomach. I go to turn around to leave, but then I'm being grabbed and pulled into the bakery next to the library.
"I'm okay. I'm actually not that hungry." I try to assure him with a light chuckle, but he just keeps pulling me to the bakery. I don't have have any money and I'm too embarrassed to say anything.
Once we're inside, we walk up to the front and he waits for me to pick something. I don't look up at the menu, I'm just looking down at the floor and playing with the hem of my pretty dress.
He never told me if he liked it.
"Pick something, Lia." I look up at him to see that he's staring at me. I look down again and whisper, "I don't have any money." I sniffle, trying to hold in my tears. There's a long pause before I hear him talking to the cashier and then he takes out his wallet. I go to protest because I don't want him spending his money on me, but he's already giving the man in front of us a ten dollar bill. He grabs my elbow and is now dragging me to a booth. We're sitting across from each other and I can feel him staring at me, but I still don't look up. I hear footsteps coming our way and I look up to see the cashier setting down a strawberry shortcake in front of me. I gasp and I look up to him and then back to the man sitting across from me.
