"When did you put this canopy up here?" I ask Grayson as he plays with my hair. We've been at the lake for hours now, so after finishing our...extra curricular activities, we're now just laying in bed.
"Since I bought the entire property when I turned eighteen." I stilled and look behind me at him.
"You bought the entire lake?" I whisper not believing what I'm hearing.
He smiles and pecks my lips. "I didn't want anyone else claiming this place. This is our place. Sunset belongs to us." My heart is clamming up and my stomach is doing a whole gymnastics routine. I can't stop the smile that's forming on my face. I kiss him back and lean into him as he finishes the braid he was doing.
"You never told me what your father does and how he can help me." I let out a breath. "I don't even know how to help me."
"My father is a very powerful man." Is all he says. I want to ask more but I know he won't say anything else, but he surprises me when he does. "My father had suspicions of your fathers plans but he had no idea what exactly until a few years ago. He then thought that everything he created was wiped out when your parents died in that car accident last year."
I remember the car accident. How I grieved for them. How I was at school and I got a phone call that my parents had died in a tragic accident. Even now that I remember everything that was done to me, I still grieve for them. I still miss them because they were my parents. But I can't ignore what they did to me and what's to come. I take a deep breath and begin to speak.
"I know what's gonna happen to me." I say so quietly that I don't even think Grayson heard me until he shuffles me on his lap so that I'm now straddling him.
"What do you mean?" He says gently as he looks into my eyes.
"The pills," I say with a sniff. "They kept me alive. The formula was slowly killing me but they needed me to stay alive so they could keep experimenting on me. So, my dad created these pills to help me stay alive. They were so painful and kept me immobile. Those are what caused me to lose my memories." I take a deep breath and continue. "I haven't taken them in years, that's why everything is coming back to me so quickly and why I'm growing weaker and weaker everyday."
She won't make it past twenty-five.
I hear my dads words in my mind.
I won't make it past twenty-five.
"So the pills are what kept you alive?" I nod. "But they are what wiped your memory too?" I nod again and Grayson looks away wincing.
"But I'm okay now." I lie. "I'm okay." I don't want to waste time worrying about what the future brings, I only want to worry about the now. Right here. With Grayson. With G.
"We should probably head back." I say changing the subject. "Milo is probably wondering where I am." He groans and nuzzles his head into neck.
"Is it bad that I'm jealous of a fucking child for having all your attention." I laugh and lift his head to kiss him.

We're back at the manor and I'm in the guest bathroom getting ready to take a shower. Milo is still with Grayson's mom and she doesn't seem to mind one bit. She told me when I got back that she will watch out for him, saying how she's missed having a little kid roaming around the big a-word house. I start up the shower and just look at myself in the mirror. I'm glowing. I look and feel so radiant and the smile on my face just shows how happy I am right now. I look down at the scare on my arm and frown. Remembering exactly what happened that day now. I place a palm on it and then the sudden urge to throw up becomes me. I make it to the toilet just in time to throw everything up. Thinking I just threw up food because maybe I ate something bad, I open my eyes and gasp.
