Chapter 9: Perfect

Justin's POV

"W-w-what did you say?" she stutters.

Damn it, Justin! Too soon!

"I love you." I repeat, sincerity ringing in every word.

I look at her and I can tell she's blinking back tears. "I love you too. I have for a while actually, I just never had the courage to tell you." She looks down at her necklace and smiles.

"Come here," I say as she gets up from her chair to sit on my lap. I move my lips closer to Selena's and kiss her passionately. I pull away and look into her eyes. "Baby, I promise I will never, ever hurt you."

"You better not. He...Nick...broke my heart. I wasn't myself for weeks. But then with you...everything's different. I'm happy and I don't have to put on a fake smile for once. Thank you." she says, tears threatening to take over again. I tilt her chin up and give her a soft kiss.

"I love you so much." I say.

We sit like this for a while before Selena suggests we go down to the beach to watch the sunset. I take her hand and lead her down to the beach. She sits in the warm sand not bothering to put down a towel. I sit next to her and wrap my arms around her waist. She leans her head on my shoulder and sighs, happy. I tighten my arms around her and pull her closer to me. I wouldn't mind staying like this for the rest of my life. We sit in silence for a while, the only sounds are our breathing, the seagulls, and the waves crashing against the shore.

"I don't ever want to forget this moment." I murmur as I kiss her and pull out my phone. I take a quick picture before she can object and set it as my background.

Selena's POV

"Send that to me." I say quietly.

After the sun finally sets, we sit and look at the waves. He gets up and offers me his hand to stand. I grab my tote bag and we walk toward his car. After opening my door, he heads over to the driver's side and starts the car. Before pulling out of the parking lot, he turns to face me.

"That sunset was the perfect end to the perfect day with the perfect girl." he says, a goofy grin on his face. I smile and lean over to kiss him.

It truly was a perfect day.
