Chapter 13: A Change

The birds chirped as the rising sun emerged from it's slumber, the sunlight shining through a large window. The man whose sat by the window was currently talking to his son..

"Good morning, Yuu" The stoic man's face remained on reading stacks of paperwork on his desk.

"Father.." Yuu smiled. It has been  months since the incident of the debut, yet he noticed something strange about the old man. But he decided not to question it, because who is he to question his father?

"What brings you here early in the morning?" He remained reading some important documentation. Yuu sighed.
"Can't you at least join us for breakfast?" He whined as he sat down on a nearby couch.
"Yuu, I have a lot of work that has to be done. It's currently spring, yes?" He asked as he stopped doing whatever he was doing to stare at his son. Yuu nodded.
"Then the next season in a month or so is already summer.. Which means students have to start attending the academy, as well as my work gradually increasing" He drank his tea. Yuu could only frown upon the statement.

Has it already been that long? 5 Months felt like a few weeks for the young boy. He could only sigh and agree upon the truth his father spoke.
"Fine, but I wasn't here to remind you about breakfast.. It's about," He paused as he looked at the grand duke.
"Mother... Can I visit her room today...? It'd been months since I've seen her.." Yuu said, a pout visibly plastered on his face in hopes to finally get his father's permission. Yuu's last visit was about during the end of Winter where his mother recovered slightly, but she fell ill upon the start of spring. His father told him that his mother gets gravely ill during spring seasons sometimes, and it unfortunately hit her.

Areaus gazed at his son, unsure of what to do. Lately, he hadn't been himself. He has been avoiding contact with people, whether it be his sons or his wife. He isolates himself in his office for hours, not even being able to join his family for breakfast, lunch or dinner. His poor excuse was "He was busy with paperwork and documentations" as what he told the head butler to reason if Will and Yuu were ever to ask.

He looked upon the pout of Yuu's face, eyes sparkling in hopes to reunite with his mother.
"I—" He stopped himself. Maybe it was wrong of him to not allow them to visit their mother once in a while. Maybe it was wrong of him to isolate himself from his family.. Maybe it was his fault all along, all the incidents. He sighed heavily.
"Fine... But please be careful.. And please bring your mother breakfast." He smiled. Maybe it was nice to smile once in a while, it's been forever..

Yuu beamed in rejoice, thanking his father endlessly until he finally decided to leave. He exited the door from his father's office.
"That was quite devious of you young master. Using such tactics to fool your own father? My, my~" He chuckled. Yuu could only give a cold glare towards his personal butler.
"And you acting cold is quite working well, keep that up for another month and you'll be spot on." Aza complemented. Yuu could only sigh as they continued walking towards his mother and father's room.

"I really can't continue with this! It's too hard to keep a poker face!" Yuu pouted. His servant could only chuckle and pat his back.
"This was your decision in order to avoid this certain perso– No.. Group of individuals." He smiled as he pat the younger's head.
"Who are they anyways? And why would you want to avoid them?" Aza asked. He stopped walking and stared at the pink-haired servant, hesitant on what to say.
"I-It's complicated... Just pay no mind to it." He continued walking, his servant following in suit after standing for a few seconds, thinking to himself.
