We sit in silence for what seems like an eternity, until I grow restless. I begin to wiggle my way to the back of the stall, where I can see a crack. I peek out, up at the webs. I can see dragons up there, but they are all moving. Why are they all awake?
I wriggle back to my father to ask him what is happening. "Dad? Why is everyone in the webs awake?" I whisper. He sighs. "Queen Wasp is searching for a traitor, she is conducting these searches in every hive tonight. Her temper is immense, and we were informed to evacuate the webs while she searches, but everything will go back to normal soon." he reassures me.
Eventually I curl up on the floor and fall asleep, jolting awake when I hear a dragon running through the streets. "The search is finished! We can go back to the webs now!" they whisper yell. I hear other dragons whispering and beginning to leave to go back to their clusters.
Finally our group leaves the stall and heads back to the webs, joining the river of dragons flowing up through the hive.
The monotonous drone of the dragons marching makes me drowsy, and I have to keep jolting myself awake. It becomes little groups of dragons sneaking into the webs, until it's our group's turn. We walk into the webs, staying together until we reach the place where some of the others must separate, whispering good luck to the others. So polite.
I dully notice our part of the group slowly slipping away until we reach our cluster, pulling myself inside and collapsing. I feel my father drape a blanket over me and whispering "Goodnight gem. Sleep well." before he walks away. The soothing sound of him weaving his cocoon fills my ears, pulling me down into sleep.
Whispers fill my brain, swirling around in the soft space. How do we keep her safe? the whispers ask me, growing more distinct. How should I know? a whisper-well it didn't whisper. It was more of a shout. Ssh! You'll wake her! another whisper says, sounding vaguely like my mother. Then I realize my parents are the whispers. "Mom? Dad?" I ask. "Good morning!" my mother calls to me. I crack my eyes open, and wince as the light triggers a headache. "My head hurts!.." I groan, pulling myself out of the hammock. "You were up very late, of course it hurts!" My mother reprimands me. "No yelling.." I protest as she drags me over to the dew collector, smashing my snout in. "ACK! Mom.. I'm not a dragonet anymore!" I complain when she lets me up. "Well it helped didn't it?" She replies expectantly, and I reluctantly admit it did. "Want some papaya?" My father asks, already peeling the fruit. "Sure!" I say, perking up at the thought of one of my favorite fruits.
I set off to school on my 3 hours of sleep and papaya, releived that I won't have to be bothered by Clover for once. I see Honeysplash reading a textbook for history on a bench in a hallway, and wave to her. "Hey Amethyst!" She calls after me with a smile. I smile back, picking up my pace to make sure I'm not late.
As I walk, I think about Bluebell. Will she be at school, or will she have to stay at the cocoon?
"Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey!" Strawberry screams at me, her and Chrysanthemum running over. "Hello!" Chrysanthemum says. "Hey you two. Is Bluebell here?" I ask them. "I.. don't think so." Strawberry tells me. "Well hopefully we can see her before she gets her silk. And see her once all of us are reassigned.." Chrysanthemum trails off. All of our worried eyes meet, and we all know we don't believe we might see her anytime soon. "Lets go into class." I say heavily, waiting for them to murmur in agreement to go into the school itself.
We walk into the building, surrounded by the faces of our fellow sleep deprived dragons. I recognize a few dragons from the river of us flowing back into the webs last night. We all have giant dark circles because dragons have those yes logic sleep deprivation is happening no more questions. I can hear yawns, and barely keep in my own. Even the teachers look tired! As we pass a group of dragons I hear them whispering about conspiracy theories, like how Wasp controls the hivewings. I perk up at that, but the warning bell rings, telling us to get to class.
Classes whiz by, the teachers barely talking because they are so tired. Multiple times I see dragons falling asleep in their papers, snouts smushed against the pages. My mind begins to drift away, the voice of the teacher getting fainter, the lecture about web construction slipping away.
"Gem!" A beautiful voice says. I turn towards the voice, happy to see my beautiful [redacted]. She always looks gorgeous in the sun, surrounded by the lush jungle plants. "Something wrong?" She asks me with concern. "I was just missing you!" I tell her happily. "I missed you too, love." She whispered. Her tail twined with mine, and she rested her head against mine. I love this feeling inside of me, the bubbles of love popping in my chest and leaving behind and even better sweeter feeling. I feel a strange bitterness deep inside myself, but choose to ignore it. I open my eyes and look over at [redacted], and gasp. Her face... is gone. "What happened to you!?" I scream. "Nothing, my love. Everything is fine. Close your eyes and be happy." She tells me. "I can't do that!.. Wait. What? Why don't I..." I whisper in fear. How don't I know my loves own name? Is this even real?! "Silly Amethyst." Her voice tells me. Her voice had become much creepier, with an extra layer like Wasps. I look back at her with a terrified expression, watching her seemingly 'glitch'. She blurs, fracturing into prices floating around me. "Don't you love me Amethyst?" Her layered voice asks. I reached into a whilrwind of her fractured prices and layered voice repeatedly asking me questions. "What's your answer Amethyst?" She asks me, but not in her voice.
I jolt from my strange dream, panicking. "Amethyst? Do you know the answer?" My teacher asks tiredly. "Could you repeat the question please?" I ask. I let out of a sigh of relief, already forgetting my dream. Everything is fine. No reason to worry, and no reason to be scared.
A/N: what did you think? I was offline this summer, sorry about that. I know it's cringey and weird, but hopefully this chapter was better. (Disclaimer: I am not actually sponsored by raid shadow legend I have like 20 viewers max)
