This night was going to be one for the books.. if you remember it.
~~Andy only missed two shots he took, with one being a bounce when he didn't think you were paying attention; you gladly smacked it out of the way. On the second game, you were rudely shocked at the voice that your heard coming from the entryway. You turned to look at Leah to see if she heard it too which she looked at you just as shocked with a hint of worrisome. Just then, Ricky appeared in the doorway with his group of buddies.
"What are you doing here, Ricky?" You called from the front of the table, beside Andy. Eric must've sensed the unease as he was now standing beside you too.
"Oh, Sum, I thought I'd just come to hang out. See how you were doing. See how the party was going." He was such a snarky asshole.
"You weren't invited and I think it's already time that you've left." You crossed your arms in a defensive way. Ricky was definitely your failed rebound from Andy but what you two had was weird. It was intense at the very least. When you were good, you were great. When you were bad, it was hell. It only lasted a couple of months but even then that was enough for you to go through a couple phones as he had smashed them and been cheated on with multiple girls. In the house that you were at. Even the bed that you slept in.
"I think I'll just grab a drink or two and then be on my way." He grabbed a beer from the cooler and walked through the living room and into the back yard.
You turned to glare at Andy with your arms still crossed. You gave him a questioning glare when he didn't say anything at first.
"Look Sum, he's probably worth more trouble if we try and force something than just letting him have his beer or two and then leaving in his own."
"That's fucked and you know it." You found it rude that he obviously made you uncomfortable but no one did anything.
"It's no ones fault that your ex boyfriend doesn't take hints. I'm just not trying to fight tonight. With anybody."
Brandon called from the opposite side of the table, "you know if he tries anything he'll be go-gone for sure." You gave him a thankful smile.
"Just try to ignore him and that'll be that. He's not going to talk to you while we're all here." Caity said. You've seen her fight too. She could probably take him alone honestly.
"And if anything, you know I can hold my own too." Eric said looking down at his hand holding his cup. There were still bloody scabs on his knuckles.
You looked up at him and gave him a tight hug from the side. You were very thankful for all of your people.
"Thanks guys. I'm sorry for getting heated." You looked at Andy when you said the latter part of the sentence for snapping on him. "He's already taken enough of our time. Let's get back to this game so we can win!"
"Do you care if I go hang with Gus and them? For a little bit?" You looked at Gus sitting on the couch just looking at his phone. He seemed to be totally out of it.
"Of course. Have fun." This was a party after all. After your game of beer pong, you and Caity are sitting at the island where the alcohol is just trying to chill for a little bit. Aristos comes strolling past you and stops on your left side.
"Whatcha sitting here for little lady?" He asks casually leaning against the island.
"Just taking a breather. Trying to calm down after we lost beer pong." You fake pout after your last words.
"Awl." He matches your pouty lip too. "Do you mind if I grab me some of that?" He nods over at the alcohol across from you to your right. He didn't want to reach over you.
"Of course." You instantly grab the bottle and slide it over to him. At that same moment you look over to find Eric in the living room, still sitting next to Gus but he's looking at his phone while Gus is explaining something to him.
"Don't mind him. He's not really into the whole social scene. I'm surprised he came honestly." He gave you a wink before walking away.
You decide it would be nice to give him some company aside from Gus; he didn't seem too invested in that conversation anyways.
"Hey you." He said when you're close enough to hear him. You sit on his lap and face Gus who has stopped talking when you came over.
"Please continue" you were interested in what he had to say and he seemed eager for someone to listen.
He was talking about how every single person has a persona; even if they don't mean too. In every setting, that persona can be adjusted to the situation at hand. As he continued, you listened carefully and thought about what he was saying. He was right. Even for you, you had your different "settings" if you will. Like when you're home with your friends it's going to be completely different than when you're at a show or the club.
".. I don't know that could be dumb though."
"No no! I agree with you. Different people and different settings bring out the different qualities in a person. Yeah, we all have our main characteristics but there are variations in our tones and energies."
He seemed to light at the words you were saying. It seemed as though no one really listened to him or paid him any mind.
"He's just going on some faded tangent."
"Even if he is faded it still makes total sense to me." You defended Gus gently to Eric.
" I'm glad someone gets it." He wrapped his arms around your waist. "Would you care if I head out soon?"
"No I understand. It's a lot going on." You looked around the room and out into the backyard where the pool was. Ricky was being obnoxious and spilling alcohol out of his mouth all over the place but he was keeping to himself.
"Wow, you do get it."
You got up to let him go and Gus followed behind you guys. I guess he had his fill too. You walked Eric to the door and gave him a gentle kiss goodbye before heading back to your friends.
