CHAPTER 31

The girls had brunch at the main house with Bangtan that afternoon. Seokjin made some Flatfish Sashimi with his own knife and Budae Jigae with Yoongi and Hoseok. They didn't let Jennie near the kitchen no matter how much she begged to help. They reasoned that she already cooked for them last night and it would hurt their pride if they let her touch even a mere teaspoon. She was banned to enter the kitchen when she tried to sneak in and cut some tofu.

Jisoo and Jimin have been playing Overwatch in the upper house for about an hour now, while Rosé was taking a quiet nap in Jimin's room. Taehyung and Jungkook have decided to spend their energy playing table tennis outside. It was a warm, bright day and it was perfect to spend it outdoors.

Namjoon was lounging by the wooden bench, facing the lake, when Jennie approached him. With nothing to pass her time, she saw Namjoon reading a book. She noticed that her mother had the same book he was reading in their library back in their house in Cheomdam-dong. This somehow peaked her curiosity.

Taehyung and Jungkook watched Jennie walked near the water. Jungkook shot Taehyung a questioning glance but Taehyung didn't respond as he motioned his head to keep playing. He watched her from the reflection of the sliding glass door behind Jungkook.

Jennie cleared her throat, hands clasp together in front of her, as she approached him slowly. She didn't want to startle Bangtan's leader.

"Annyeong Namjoon-ssi," she greeted, a small smile on her lips.

Namjoon perked up at the sound of his name as he put down the book on his lap, moved his head to see who called him. He instantly gave a friendly smile when he saw the girl in front of him. He slid at the edge of the bench, making space for her, as he greeted her back, "Annyeong Jennie-ssi! What brings you here?"

She bowed slightly before sitting at the other end of the bench. Her eyes stray towards the small bonsai tree between them and chuckled, "I was wondering if you could use a friend but I see you have a friend with you already."

Namjoon laughed once he saw Jennie eyeing his cute small tree. "Oh, this is Plum Blossom. She's six. I talk to her sometimes."

"Oh, my bad! Sorry to interrupt your father-daughter bond," she teased, making Namjoon tilt his head back in a boisterous laugh.

"I didn't know you've got some great sense of humor, Jennie."

"I'm a natural," she said, flipping her head on the side while trying to contain her laugh.

"I'm honoured to witness it," he played along before looking at the lake ahead of them. "I saw the drama announcement. Thanks for bringing more people to know us. Making headlines again, Jennie Kim. As always."
