Author's Note: Thank you for staying. I love you :(  I just want to say that I'm focusing on the characters in the book rather than the plot. It'll be more meaningful like this. I don't want to rush character arcs and such, so it's going to take some time writing this. When I said I changed the plot, I mean I saw many plot holes so I'm going to try and mend those and give this book a satisfactory ending. Did I mention that it's a slow burn at the start? Yeah, please don't forget that hehe. Again, I can't thank you enough.

CHAPTER 49

"Hello, Jennie."

If it weren't for the purple hyacinths sitting in full bloom at the top corner shelf, Jennie wouldn't have the patience to stay and actually listen. She was being summoned three days before the release of their album and she could think of a hundred reasons why.

Number one: the CEO hates her guts.

The rest are just detailed excuses to cover the hatred.

Well, the feeling is mutual, she thought, as she sits across the lady in red.

Jennie didn't return the greeting.

If CEO Hwang noticed, she didn't let it show. Instead, the old woman's displeasure mirrored in her hand movements. She placed her left hand over a brown folder, manicured nails span the table as if ready to claw her.

Jennie kept her face stoic. Not that she has to try hard. It was getting easier and easier to deal with.

"How have you been? Excited for the album, aren't you?" Hwang-sajangnim practically purred as she smirked at the 5% increase in YG stocks ever since the promotion for the album dropped.

Jennie remained mute.

CEO Hwang clapped in merry as she leaned back in her black leather chair. "I'm sure you are! You were begging for this to happen months ago. Where's the smile? Nothing? Huh, of course, as I expected. Shame, really. Now that what you wanted is finally happening, you dare not celebrate?"

Jennie's jaw clenched as she kept her chin up. "Why did you summon me here?" she muttered.

"I asked for you today because I received a call from your family lawyer regarding—"

A knock on the door interrupted YG's CEO. Manager Lee walked in, face guarded and tensed. "Apologies for the disruption, Attorney Kwon Jung-rok and Private Investigator Inna are here for Jennie."

The look of surprise and fleeting irritation crossed CEO Hwang's face as she clicked her tongue on the roof of her mouth as she gestured for the visitors to come in.

The professionals bowed and regarded Jennie with a slight nod before settling down on the two other open seats on her side.

"I didn't expect to see you so soon, Lawyer Kwon. We just spoke this morning."
