CHAPTER 17

"I thought we'll just do drive thru and then leave?"

Jennie was flabbergasted as to why Taehyung was parking safely near the McDonald's entrance. She thought that they'd be out and about in just 15 minutes, but Taehyung clearly had other plans.

He shot her a wink before turning off the engine, removing his seatbelt in the process. "Relax, Kim Jennie. I know the manager here, we're safe."

"Okay, but—"

"No buts. Let's go. We're going to order for 23 hungry idols, I think we need help loading all that stuff in my trunk. There's not a single soul here."

She opened her mouth to reason out some more when he reached over to her side, and she thought he's going to go for it. Her eyes were as wide as saucers and her hands were tightly clenching her borrowed clothes. She was not ready for this. Holding her breath, his face was hovering a few inches away from hers; she could smell his mint toothpaste and she wondered if it tastes as minty as it smells.

Is this really going to happen?

Thudthud. Thudthud. Thudthud. Her eyes automatically fluttered shut and she swore she could hear him smile.

Click!

Jennie felt her seatbelt loosened and the warmth he was radiating off her disappeared. He had a thoughtful look on his face as he goes back to his side in a flash. Adjusting his face mask and cap, he hid his grin when he saw her cough.

"Are you sleepy?"

She wished she had gotten drunk instead. Well, too late for regrets. She frowned, opening her eyes to shoot him a glare only to find him looking at her so innocently. She averted her eyes and busied her hands to adjust her own face mask, "Ani. Just got something in my eyes."

"Huh."

A sharp exhale left her lips when she heard him exit the car, she shrieked in her hands and rubbed her face. Damn it. Get it together, Jennie.

He jogged around her side of the car and opened the car door for her and it was a good thing she had a face mask on or else he would've caught her whole aggravated face in action.

She didn't expect him to be so, so chivalrous. She pouted at the thought of him being chivalrous to everyone and then quickly burned, extinguished, and buried that thought away before it lingers inside her head for days. They were friends for goodness' sake. She cannot allow herself to think that way.

Friends.

With that thought in mind, she bowed quickly as she got out of the car and stride towards the entrance in a fast pace. Taehyung had to jog to catch up to her but didn't say a word with her sudden departure. He sprinted towards the doors to open the door for her but Jennie's feet were swift to caught on.
