CHAPTER 52

Jennie Kim could never make any mistake on television. It's what the netizens prey over. Idols who dance too little, too much—hate! Idols who sing live were still accused of lip sync—hate! Idols who come from a big company automatically means they never had any forms of hardships, everything's handed to them with a silver spoon in their mouths—hate! Idols who smile—hate! Idols who are kind and they think it's fake—hate! Idols who simply exist—hate!

Jennie Kim could do no wrong, especially in her fans' eyes. Of course she couldn't have performed well because it was the microphone's fault. Or she didn't forget the lyrics (even if she did) because she was only playing around. The constant perfect image digs deep into her skin and the itch could never be scratched off.

Jennie Kim should always be grateful for having the fame and opportunities presented to her.
It was all too much. 24/7 in her head. Always dictating how to feel. How to always take in the hate. To keep suffering from the comments of the bullies about her appearance, her dress, her face, her words, her everything.

And no matter how much she tried to be the perfect idol, the hate was all the same.

Jennie Kim's privacy was an alien topic for the fans and media. No, of course it's her fault that her pictures are leaked or if she gets caught hanging with someone other than her members. Her business is everyone's business. And Jennie wanted to scream.

Jennie Kim should be grateful she's born wealthy. She never experienced anything less than privilege, so she must be spoiled and a snob. Her kindness was probably media play and she treats people below her status like shit. She should be grateful she had rich parents. It didn't matter that they separated. Poor her for being rich and parents with a broken marriage, they mocked. Belittling her suffering like she didn't matter. Like it was her fault that she was born.

Jennie Kim's heart keeps aching. And no one seemed to notice until it's all in pieces.

Hanbin's guard was up. She hated seeing him looked so calm and serene just because he was afraid that she would breakdown again. But how could she blame him when all she has done the entire party was cry?

The radio was playing Somewhere Only We Know by Keane, and she hummed along. The sky was dark and foggy, and she was thankful for the bright lights around the city as they drove past them.

"Thanks for driving me home, Bin-ah," she told him because despite everything that has happened he kept his oath of silence. She wanted to let him know she's grateful for being her closest friend.
