Deenas POV
———————
I knock on Sams door shortly after our encounter.

"Hi Miss Fraser - I mean Mrs Fraser... Can I speak to Sam for a second?" I ask in the friendliest tone as possible.

"Sams busy doing homework, she can't see you right now." She slams the door in my face.
Did I do something wrong? Has she heard about me? Is she homophobic?
I can't help but think about the worst things possible.

I walk over to my place - car keys still in hand.
I open the door and see my Dad sitting at the kitchen table.

"Hey Deena."

"Hey.." I give him an awkward greeting. He's not around much, and when he is - he leaves a mess for me to clean up.

"Did you see the new neighbours?"

"Yeah Dad, they moved in two weeks ago."

"Yeah I know.. just making conversation. You ordering dinner?"

"Yeah. Burger King."

He hands me over twenty bucks.

"Order me something, and uh something for the girl next door. Invite her over for supper. You should meet more girls."
His voice is raspy, but he's not slurring his words like he does when he's drunk. I'm surprised he's sober. He usually just drinks and watches television.

I chuckle awkwardly "I should meet more girls?"

"Yeah. You know since you're..."

I just give him a nod and walk over to the kitchen to order Burger King.

Me and my Dad never talked much, but when we did it was always awkward - unless it was him complaining about how expensive AOL is.

As soon as I'm done ordering the food I call Sam. As usually - two rings go in and she picks up.

"Hey Deena."

"Hey Sammy. I've just ordered food for us, do you want to come over for supper? It was my Dads idea, but I would love having you here."
I say - holding back a grin.

Sam starts to chuckle. "Wow you want me to meet your parents already?"

"Parent." I correct.

"Right, sorry. I'll be right over Deenie."

"Wow a new nickname. You surprise me everyday Fraser." I laugh - putting the telephone back on the wall.

After waiting impatiently for thirty minutes - I hear the doorbell.

Ding Dong

Sams POV
——————
Deenas Dad wants me over for supper?
I don't know if I should be honoured or scared.

Before going to Deenas I take a shower - I can't meet Mr Johnson smelling like sweat and grass.
I toss on a yellow flannel and some jeans.

As I reach Deenas doorstep I see a Burger King bag. I ring the door bell and hold up the Burger King bag - chuckling.

"I found this on your doorstep."

Deenas smiling, I love it when she smiles.
"Come in."

As soon as I step in the door I see a tall man standing 6 feet in front of me. He has a black scruffy beard and is wearing a navy button up - I think I know where Josh gets his style from.

"Girls come sit down at the table. I'll get Josh." The man says in a lousy and raspy voice.

"Sorry about my Dad."

"There's nothing to be sorry for." I assure Deena.

We sit down at the table and Deena looks over at me. "Does your Mom know I'm gay?" She sounds worried.

I give her a confused look. "No why?"

"No reason. I was just wondering."

I hear someone tut. "You couldn't get pizza?"
It's Josh. He sits down and Deena gives him a tap on the head.

"Be grateful dill weed."

"I am grateful Deena. I just really like pizza."
Josh snaps back in a disappointed tone.

I couldn't help but smile at the sight of the two. I wish I had a sibling to bicker with.

"So do you two know each other?" Deenas father asks - pointing to both me and Deena.

"We met the first day I got here. Deena helped me with my math work." I say unwrapping my burger and giving the man a smile.
Deena was already munching down on her burger - looking straight down at the table.
Was she embarrassed?

"Oh, I bet you two are really getting along."
Josh starts to grin as his Dad talks.

"Yeah we are. Your daughter is amazing."
I say trying to hold my confidence - but really, I wanted to barf.

I look up to look at Deena. She has sauce on her face.

"Deena you got something-." I point to her face.

Deena licks her lips.
"Gone?"

I chuckle. "No, here." I lean over to wipe the sauce off of her mouth with my finger. "Stop moving." I can't help but laugh.
Deena also starts bursting into a small fit of laughter.

I sit back down and wipe off my finger.

"Deena is she your girlfriend?" Deenas Dad suddenly - out of nowhere asks.

I see Deenas face turn red. "What? No."

"Now I have a...what is it? A gaydar. I catch these things. It's okay there's nothing wrong with you girls." Mr Johnson states.

"Dad no. Me and Sam are just friends. She's not gay."

Why did Deena say that? I know we're just friends, but we never talked about my sexuality before. Did she just assume I was straight?

After that awkward encounter, me and Deena head up to her room.

"I'm really sorry. I don't know why my Dad said that." Deena sits down on her bed.

"Deena it's okay."

I sit down next to her and nudge her arm playfully. "Don't be upset."

"I'm not - that was just kind of embarrassing."

After a short silence - not the awkward kind of silence, just a normal silence. I start to speak.

"I-I think I'm gay."

Deena looks at me with a shocked expression on her face.

"Oh. Are you sure? Do you like someone?" She asks me. I don't know how to answer that, do I like someone?

"Yes." Is all I can manage to spit out.

"Really? Who?"

I start to panic. Why did I say that?
"I mean - Yes I think I'm gay."

"Oh."

"Can you help me?" I ask - knowing what I want to say, but I don't know if I can work up the nerve.

"How? I don't think I can help you with your sexuality Sam."

I bite down on my bottom lip out of nervousness. I manage to say two words.

"Kiss me."
