Tryouts / Chapter 2

After seven long hours of school, Sam had to try out for cheerleading with Kate. When she left her final class. Deena caught up with her. "Hey you headed to the field?" Sam honestly had no idea where she was going. "I guess? I'm not really sure where to go." Sam says - pretty confused.

Deena gives her a friendly tap on the shoulder.
"Here let me take you."

Sam is grateful for Deena. She had no idea where to go, but Deena helped her. Sam thought Deena was pretty cool.

Once Deena and Sam exited the school and into the schools field, they saw Kate and Simon - stuffing his face with chips on the bleachers.
Kate sighs -  pretty irritated because she just wanted to get home at this point.
"You can't cheer in jeans." Kate points out.
"Oh I didn't bring a change of clothes..." Sam says nervously - Kate is intimidating when she's in a bad mood, but it's understandable. Who'd enjoy spending 7 hours in 'Shittyside' high?
"Deena go to my locker with Samantha and get her a pair of my shorts, please?"
Deena just gives Kate a nod. Leaving with Sam, towards the girls locker room.

Once at Kates locker, Deena throws Sam a pair of black shorts. "So, do you actually enjoy cheer? Or are you doing it just to earn a scholarship?" Deena asks - she never understood why girls would join cheer willingly. Who would want to flail themselves around for some stupid sweaty jocks?

Sam starts changing into Kates shorts.

"I actually kind of enjoy it. I'd appreciate a scholarship, but cheer is just something I do for fun. We're sitting in a desk all day - so why not get up and let loose? You know?"

Deena turns around to see Sam in Kates shorts.
She felt weird being in here with her - especially because of Simons lesbo statement.
"I guess." Deena says, trying not to look at Sam so much.

Once back outside Kate rushes Sam over so they could start. Deena just sat on the bleachers by Simon - him still stuffing his face with chips. Simon never actually ate at lunch, he'd much rather talk to Kate and Deena.

Deena stares at the blonde girl while she tries out for cheer. She really liked the way she moved - how could she not?
Deena never really liked watching girls. She always felt creepy, but Sam really caught her eye. As Sam dances around the field, she glances at Deena who's staring straight at the girl. But Deena is quick to look away and immediately starts to blush.
Seeing Deena look at her - it makes Sam smile.

After tryouts Sam is greeted by Deena.
"Need a ride?"

"Huh?" Sam asks - pretty shocked.

"Do you need a ride...like to your house?"

"Oh, yeah but I don't want to bother you." Sam replies.

"It's okay, I'm the one who asked." Deena let's out a chuckle.

"You're right, give me a second to change." Sam lets out a smile. She didn't expect all of this on the first day.

When Sam gets changed back into her jeans - she walks out of the school, spotting Deena with a younger boy - playfully messing up his hair.
Sam walks over "Hey."

"Hey Sam, you ready?"

"Yeah." Sam gives her a nod, along with a smile.

"Who's this?" The boy curiously butts in.

"This is Sam - the new girl. Sam this is Josh, my brother." Deena introduces them to each other.
