As he passed me on the way out, a letter fluttered down infront of me. I uncrumpled the ball and laid it flat against the surface of my desk.
"Why the fuck are you staring? creep" It read in red ink. I gritted my teeth. What an asshole. Who cares if he's pretty with that attitude? I balled it back up and tossed it in the trashcan on the way out. 2nd period came and went like a jetplane. It flew right by.
I didn't speak to anyone in that class, and no one really bothered to speak to me. I think I gritted my jaw so hard I chipped a tooth. Then i think people naturally assumed to fuck off even when I had calmed myself.
So then came 3rd and I had no idea where the room was located. I had only been told two things about locating things here. The letter meant school building and the first number meant the floor of the classroom. E-327 sat ever so glum on my schedule sheet. It felt like the assortment of alphanumeric's was laughing at me with taunting eyes.
I was still in building A, so I thanked the administration gods for giving us 10 minute passing periods. Since it quite literally takes 10 minutes to cross the whole campus. Perhaps twice as much if you weren't rushing like all these private school snobs were, running around frantically like lost deers. What made me feel quite a bit better was the huge number of freshmen walking in one direction, coming to the conclusion it was the wrong one and backtracking several times. I was older looking but I didn't stand too far apart from the 9th graders and that made me feel less embarrassed to be so lost and confused.
"Hello." Came up to me was a taller girl with pretty tanned skin and black slick hair pulled into a high ponytail, leaving only wisps of hair to curl around her face with her arms crossed, and a kind smile on her face.
"Hi!" I grinned, hoping and pleading for some assistance.
"Is that from the costume sets for the dance department?" She asked, her voice low and silky like she had smoked many cigarettes but had the gentle mannerisms of a loving mother. Soothing.
"Oh! Yes it is. The uh- Vice President? Of the club let me try it on but i didn't get the chance to put it back when the bell rang..." I explained in a jittery fashion, making meaningless hand gestures as if they'd help ease my guilt.
She chuckled in response as she looked down at me with half-lidded eyes. "No no, no worries" she lowered her face to keep even and continued, "it's just nice to see people in my designs."
"Oh! You designed them! That's amazing!" I beamed, my eyes glazing over with honey filled admiration.
Came abruptly was a hard thud into my shoulder causing me to moan. I moved forwards, closing my eyes to the twinge building in my shoulder blade.
"Sorry." Came a raspy voice as it passed us.
I didn't really look to see who it was, as I was too busy cupping my shoulder trying to dull it out.
"Are you okay?" The girl in front of me asked, her brows furrowed.
"I'm alright... he just bumped into a fragile area is all. Though that did remind me, could you help me find my next class?" I asked, holding both hands up in a plea.
"Of course! Are you a freshman?"
"Senior, actually. I just moved here from Michigan. Not too used to the fancy environment yet haha" I laughed half-heartedly. I told her my room number and she lead me off.
There were 7 class buildings, 5 seperate buildings for activities, several large fields for different sports and 4 buildings for dorms. I was excepted to move into the dorms for my second semester as my father didn't want to rush me into it right away.
