I don't think i have ever slept less. When my alarm went off, i was already awake, staring at the pattern on my ceiling like it was interesting. My eyes were actually hurting i was that tired. I knew I wasn't the only one awake, i'd heard Mum get up at five to turn on the heating. I'm pretty sure she didn't go back to bed after that though and I knew Luke was up. I'd been texting him since four. Yes that may sound odd but i have. I was tossing and turning, my body refusing to except it's invite to deep sleep when my phone went off. *Keep it down. i can hear you moving!;)* i told him that he'd just have to lump it because i couldnt sleep. This led me to find out that he couldnt either and yeah we've been talking ever since.
I sighed, told Luke i was actaully going to move now and heaved myself out of bed, falling backwards and having to do it again. I crawled over to my wardrobe and got changed lying on the floor. I crawled over to my mirror and sighed at the sight of my incredibly attractive morning hair. Picture a girl with a tumble weed on their head, you know in a cartoon when their in a dessert or something and one of those bush things rolls along the floor? Yeah, picture one of those on a girls head, that is my morning hair.
I used nearly half of the can of the de-tangle spray on my tumble weed, then brushed it three times and straightened it before i was please with my hair, no longer a tumble weed. I then left my room with my bag and went downstairs.
"Pip..?" I turned around to see an incredibly sleepy looking luke, standing in his underwear rubbing his eyes.
"Yes?" I asked noticing the slight sound of 'i want something' in his voice.
"Can you make me a coffee pwease?" he asked smiling sweetly.
"Uh..yes." I said rolling my eyes and walking into the lounge.
Mum was sat at the table with a mug in her hand and hundreds of envelops and papers surrounding her.
"Mum?" I asked walking over to her. She looked up and smiled weakly, her eyes were red and her hair was standing up on end...looks like no one slept last night. I picked up her mug and went in the kitchen to fill it up again for her.
I made three cups and went back into the lounge, I sat opposite mum and studied her face. She looked worried. I squinted at the papers infringing of her, I couldn't read it but I saw red. I pushed the cup towards her in hope that it would distract her from looking that drained. She looked up and thanked me.
"Mum...are you alright?" I asked reaching out and touching her hand, she really didn't look very good at all.
"Hm? Oh yes i just didnt sleep too well thats all." She said rubbing her temples and sighing.
"Mum...what are you reading?"
"Just...bills and stuff about the house." She picked up a paper and i saw her eyes widen.
"Mum. Whats wrong." I said flatly, pulling the paper from her hands and putting it on the table.
"You can see right through me can't you?" She said trying to force a smile. I nodded at her ushering her to continue.
"It's just all the things going on Pippa. I mean i thought the house was all ready to move into next weekend..but i got a letter yesterday saying the plumbing had messed up or malfunctioned or something so i need to pay a couple hundred for it to be fixed because it's in my name and i don't have a couple hundred quid! Then theres Paris, she comes first right now obviously but it's just been so stressful. I mean shes seven months pregnant now and she'll be having hormone swings and back pains and...erg. i just don't know how we'll cope! I need to go back to work soon, ive taken too much personal leave and their not paying me now!" She had her head in her hands and she was crying. I stood up, hurried around the table and hugged her. She was shaking, and she was freezing cold. I felt her forehead, she was burning there.
"Mum, your burning up!" I said letting go of her and going into the kitchen.
"No, i'm just a bit under the weather thats all." She croaked. I reached into one of the boxes saying 'FIRST AID' on and found the themometre. I rushed back in and told her to use it.
"Pippa I'm..."
"Mum. No you're not. You looke awful, your shaking, you feel freezing yet your face is bright red and your sweating. You are the exact oposite of fine. Now take your temperature, please." Mum looked at me, tears still on her cheeks, finally took the themometre and put it under her arm. I sat next to her waiting for it to beep, when it did she refused to tell me what it said. I yanked it from her grasp, 40 degrees.
"Mum. Go to bed." She refused and i took her hand.
"Mum, please. You've got a fever, you're stressed out, you're sick. Please go to bed, i won't go to school if you don't." She frowned at me and then clutched her forehead.
"Mum?" Her face went pale and a slight shade of green, I grabbed her back as she fell limp.
"LUKE!" I yelled, struggling to hold her in my arms.
"What?!" He yelled stumbling down the stairs. He rushed into the room and his eyes widened.
"My God...what happened?" He asked putting his arms beneath her and carrying her in his arms.
"She was really hot and cold and then she was crying and then i told her to take her temperature and then she was too hot and then she passed out and now i..." I started crying and sat down, holding my head.
"Why today?!" I wept.
"Hey, look i'll put your mum upstairs and then i'll come back, one second." He carefully turned and walked up the stairs. Like he said he was back down within a matter of seconds, he sat down next to me and wrapped his arms around me. I cried into his shoulder.
"Don't worry ok? I'm sure she just needs a bit of rest. Look here's what we'll do. You go to school, ah don't object! Ok, you go to school, I will look after your Mum and i'll sort all of the welcome home stuff for Paris out. If your mum hasnt woken up by the time your home i'll call a doctor. Everything will be ok, Paris is coming back at six, your Mum will be ok by then. Now go on wipe away the tears and get going to school." He stood up and handed me a tissue, i took it and wiped my face.
He was probably right, Mum would be fine, i put my shoes on and grabbed my bag. I opened the door and stood there, slightly stunned. Harry was stood there with his hands in his pockets, i don't know why i was stunned. I walked to school with him everyday, i just wasn't expecting him today for some reason.
I shut the door and looked at him, not sure what to say. I stepped towards him and studied his face. He looked at me and opened his arms, if my Mum hadn't just fainted i would of probably avoided it but i really needed hugs. I stepped into his arms and let him wrap his arms around me. I smiled into his chest. He pulled me back and studied my face.
"Whats happened?" He asked frowning at me.
"Tell you on the way." I said sighing and we began walking to school.
