"Kamden?" Wymond says under his breath so as not to draw attention to them. "Follow me."
He does not need to check that his friend is following, he just knows and trusts him. Quietly and slowly they push themselves through the crowd.
In a place out of sight of the stage, hidden beneath a fruit cart, they make their plans.
"We need to get to the back of the stage." Wymond says. "One of us needs to untie her and get her off that way."
"I will make a distraction," Kamden says, "get Leoma to organize something with her army."
"First you need to help me get through the Guards, there's about eight of them on this side who are protecting the back, if we eliminate all of them, Hilda and I will have a clear path for our escape."
"The Guards on the other side are all being used, right? There's no more?" Kamden questions.
"Yes, I have looked, they should be distracted already."
"When I have helped you through, I will send a signal, a shout or something - you will know."
Wymond reaches out and squeezes his friends shoulder. Looking him dead in the eye, he speaks in a low tone. "Thank you for always being here. Let's finish this."
Kamden smiles, creases appear at his eyes. "Together. How it's always been. Just you and me. Just another hunt."
"Just another hunt." Wymond whispers.
Kamden drags him to his feet and together, they move forward, knives in hand, ready to take the Guards down.
The first two are easy, facing the other way, the Hunters can grab their mouths from behind and kill them soundlessly. As they move further down the side of the stage, out of sight of everyone, they encounter two more. Easy again, the boys are too quick. Four down. Three have appeared. Wymond and Kamden rush forward and take the first two but the third gets ahold of the back of Wymonds shirt. Kamden try's to help but another Guard comes round the corner. The eighth Guard starts toward Kamden, hands outstretched, wielding a dagger in the air. Wymond watches, struggling against the man holding him, slowly suffocating him, as Kamden steadies himself to fight. Black spots appear at Wymonds vision - he fights to say conscious. The last Guard makes contact with Kamden but he is thrown to the floor and stabbed in the back in the same movement. Kamden raises his knife again and stabs the attacker through the skull. Then he turns his attention to Wymond. Wymond is just giving in when he feels a jolt and he slams to the floor. His body screams at him, pain erupts from his head at the sudden impact. The unhealed wounds protest. His lungs long for air. He chokes and try's to take breaths. Lying on his back, his limbs move, trying to force his body to get up. He's now aware of a face above him, calling his name.
"Wymond... Wymond..."
Eventually he registers that he needs to respond to his friend. He forces his head to nod and slowly, his breathing becomes less labored.
Next Kamden is pulling him to his feet. He yelps at the effort.
"Go and get Hilda." Kamden says. "Go! Go and her."
Wymond rejoins the present, ears ringing. "I'll go... get her," he says through heavy breaths.
He stumbles slightly as Kamden let's go of him and pushes him away. "Remember, you will know when I send the signal."
"I'll know." Wymond confirms.
They exchange a final glance and, by the pure knowledge of Hilda needing help, Wymond's legs move away from his friend.
