Aether woke up to a room unfamiliar to him, he remembered that the Herald backstabbed him back at the cavern before he fell unconscious. He had no clue if Xiao was still alive or not, so he prayed to the archons that Xiao was still alive. He tried several times to summon his sword to try and break free from the room but when he woke up he had a strange abyssal ring on his left arm which he could not remove. The spell was preventing him from using his powers which meant he was completely powerless and trapped.
Every time Aether asked to see his sister the Heralds would tell him that she was away for a while and that she'd be back soon. Aether had no way of telling time or what day it was but it felt like weeks had passed, until one day Lumine finally visited him.
"Aether..." Lumine spoke once she entered the room.
"Lumine what is going on with you? Why are you working with the Order?" Aether asked his voice was low and flat, almost threatening.
"The Order agreed to help us get back to our world, we can go home, Aether, where we belong," Lumine answered.
"What if I don't want to go back? Why can't we stay in Teyvat? I'm sure you'll love living there too." Aether asked, he stepped closer to Lumine but the Heralds standing guard drew their weapons making Aether stop.
"Because a horrible disaster is going to happen. We need to leave." Lumine answered.
"What?! Lumine you need to wake up! They are brainwashing you, if a disaster is going to happen then that's all the more reason for me to stay and help the people of Teyvat!" Aether snapped back.
"The Heralds tried to kill me back at that cavern." Aether continued. The memory of what happened repeated in his mind.
"That's funny, the Heralds told me that the Adeptus went mad and tried to kill you, they stepped in and rescued you." Lumine countered.
"Are you kidding me?!" Aether yelled, his patience was wearing thin. "You believe them over your own brother?! Xiao would never hurt me, he'd rather die than do that!"
"Why are you being so stubborn?! Teyvet isn't our home! We don't belong there!" Lumine yelled back, she couldn't believe that Aether was refusing to go home with her then it hit her. "Wait...is it because of that dark-haired boy?!"
"...." Aether didn't want to answer that, he just glared at Lumine. He was getting nowhere and his head was starting to hurt from the arguing he was having with his sister. He hates fighting with her, if anything he wants her to wake up and see that she is just being used.
'Is he really in love with that boy? No...Aether knows better than to break the rules...especially that rule' Lumine thought, she wanted to know for sure so she called him out.
"Aether...that's the one rule we agreed not to break. We can't fall in love with people from other worlds." Lumine spoke up again.
"I don't regret it." Aether snapped back.
'So he is in love...Dammit, Aether!' Lumine told herself she was having a hard time processing everything so she decided to end the conversation for the day.
"I'll talk to you again later," Lumine said, her tone of voice was cold and heartless when speaking this time. The Heralds escorted her out of the room.
'Dammit...Lumine...I need you to open up your eyes!' Aether thought as he watched his sister be escorted out of the room.
Aether stood no chance against the Heralds in his current state so he let her leave. Soon as he was alone Aether screamed and smashed his hand against the wall out of frustration, the wall formed a small cavity and cracked a bit from Aether's punch.
