Chapter 11: Luci's Past Part 1

Let's go back several years and see when all this started. First off, Luci was born into this cult. Her parents were ecstatic becoming parents. Father John was there at the birth of Luci. He knew what had to be done. After Luci was born, he went over to her parents with a smile. "Congratulations to you both for bringing a beautiful baby girl into the world. Have you already suggested a name for her?" As her mother held her, she looked up at him. "We were thinking of naming her after my mother, Lucinda."

Father John nods, "A beautiful name for a beautiful girl. But doesn't it seem like a long name for her?" Her parents look at each other in confusement. "Is it, Father?" Her dad asked him. He nods. "She can be named Luci with an i. She will still be named after your mother." Her parents decided to name her Luci as Father John said so. Why did they obey him, you ask? Well they were afraid of him of course. He was a strange man who made his word law almost overnight. Plus many were killed when they rebelled against him in the beginning.

*10 years later*

Now Luci is 10 years old. She has spent most of her life helping the elderly with anything they needed. She and her parents would do this everyday. Her father owned a small restaurant while her mother homeschooled Luci. Luci was not allowed to learn about the outside world, only God and basic subjects. Luci never learned outside music, books, or even the news of the One Piece. The island never even met pirates. The only outsider they ever met was Brother Patrick.

5 years before, Brother Patrick came in and became Father John's right hand man. Both men were connected to the Marines. As we know, Patrick is an assassin who became a spy for the Marines. But what does Father John have to do with them? Well you see, Father John is part of the Marines. He decided to leave and become a pastor. He left one night out of nowhere and that made the head of the Marines angry. So now there was a bounty over his head.

Let's get back to Luci. It was now her 10th birthday and her parents had plans for her. The day before, they overheard Father John and Brother Patrick talking about giving Luci a devil fruit because they deemed her 'worthy'. This made her parents worry and both decided to leave with Luci the next day. That day Luci was confused as they packed. "Mom, dad, what's going on?" Her mother goes to her and hugs her tightly. "Tomorrow, we are going to leave. We will find a new home." Luci had worry on her face. "What about Father John? Won't he be mad?" Her mother looks at her with tears. "He will not hurt you anymore." That night, her parents hug her and kiss her goodnight saying that they love her. That would be their last interaction.

The next day, her parents were at the restaurant closing it up and Luci was outside waiting for them. Father John walked up to her with a smile on his face and hands behind his back. "Happy Birthday, my daughter." Luci looks up at him. "Thank you, Father." He kneels down to her level. "I heard you and your parents were leaving so I decided to give you my parents before you leave." Father John holds out a black devil fruit. "Go ahead and eat it. It is good for you." Luci was confused but decided to eat it. Of course it did not taste well.

Her parents walk out and see Father John with her. Both glared at him. "What did you do to our daughter?" Her father asked in anger. Father John smirks and brings her to him. "Just had her eat the Posses- Posses fruit. She deserved it." Her mother tears up and reaches out to her. "Come on baby, let's go on." Father John leans down and whispers into Luci's ear. " Hold your hand out and you'll see a surprise." Luci does so and before she knew it, her parents were flying to the back of the restaurant, hitting the wall.

Luci was using her new power. She could not control it. Luci cried out for them and went over to them. "Mommy! Daddy!" Before she could make it to them, the restaurant was set on fire. Luci looked around scared. Her emotions made her lose control of her new abilities. She was scared of what just happened. She realized that it was the devil fruit that made her do this. She has heard of them before but did not think that she would eat one.

She tried to wake them up with her screams but they did not wake up. They were unconscious due to hitting the wall hard. Father John walks in and grabs her running out. Luci cries out for her parents. But sadly the restaurant burned to the ground, burning her parents to death. Luci cried hard wanting them back. Father John picks her up and hugs her. "It will be alright. I will help you control your abilities.
