Chapter 15: The Marines

The Marines....People Luci never thought she would ever have to face. But it looks like this is the battle her mother tried to warn her about. What could Luci do? She didn't know where her friends were and now she was tied up and face to face with the true enemy. "Where are they, you dick!" She asked Patrick. He slaps her across the cheek. "That's Captain Patrick to you!" Captain Patrick! How powerful was this man? Who did he kill to get to that rank? That didn't matter now. What matters is that Luci must think of a plan to get out and find her friends.

"Your so-called 'friends' have left you. They were gone by the time the Marines came to the island." Her friends left her? She knew that couldn't be true. But at that moment, she didn't know what to believe. Did she really know the Strawhats? Would they really leave her in the hands of the Marines? Luci felt hatred taking over her body. Hatred for the man right in front of her and for the one she killed in the church. Hatred for what she has gone through for so many years. But also hatred for her insecurities. She felt like everything that they told her was a lie. They did not care for her. Brook did not love her at all. That was what she was telling herself. It consumed her mind in a matter of seconds until it got too loud for her to handle.

'No!' She thought. She decided to silence the voice in her head telling her lies about the Strawhats. They care about her. They wouldn't have gone all the way to her island to rescue her if they didn't care for her. She knew that they would rescue her from this predicament as well, but Luci wasn't gonna be a damsel in distress until they came to rescue her. She was gonna be the hero this time. It was time to battle the true monster in her life, Brother...No, Captain Patrick.

"No more!" She screamed out so that all could hear. The Marines were of course confused. They did not know a lot about her. In fact, she was just a stranger to them. But Captain Patrick fed them lies about her. To him, she was a monster that had to be stopped. When Patrick heard her scream, his face showed confusement. That confusion quickly changed to anger. He was losing control over her.

"Excuse me?" He asked hoping he was merely hearing things. Luci looks up at him with anger written on her face. "No more controlling me. No more trying to turn me into a weapon. And no more of your 'I'm bigger than you' attitude of yours. As she was speaking, she was able to use her strength to break free of the rope. Luci stands up and the Marines gasp in shock and fear. They all backed away as she stood up. One of them speaks up. "Impossible! She used inhuman strength. She really is a monster."

Luci looks around at the Marines then back at Captain Patrick. Her eyes have now turned red and that alone brought more fear to the marines. "You did all this just to rank yourself up from a spy to a captain. Or maybe that was a lie too and you really are just a captain who can manipulate anyone you deem lower than you. Well guess what? I am not some puppet to you. You will burn just like Father did. He was such a coward when I used my devil fruit powers on him. That alone made me realize who the real monster was...you."

Patrick takes out a pistol from the inside of his coat and points it at her. "My dear, you have no idea how much I wanted to do this. Our little fight earlier was nothing to me. You were not worthy of the devil fruit. I should have gotten it but that stupid bastard of a pastor belived that it was meant for you. I wanted him dead for so long. But thankfully, you did the job for me and now I can kill you and take the bounty. The poster did say dead or alive. Once I finish you, I will find the Strawhats and take them down. You can reunite with them in Hell.'' The pistol clicks and he pulls the trigger. *BAM*

The Marines had their eyes closed as he shot at Luci. What came next was quite a shock. When they all opened their eyes, they did not see a body on the ground. The sight in front of them was Luci holding the bullet between her right middle and pointing finger. There was no fear in her red eyes. The bullet melted as she stared at Patrick. "You really think a bullet is gonna kill me? It's gonna take a lot more than that to kill me. I don't go down without a fight."

With that, Luci looks at the Marines, who already had their pistols out and pointing at her.. She uses her powers to burn the pistols in their hands. They all dropped the weapons as they were getting too hot. "Such useless men." As she walks towards Patrick, she feels a sharp pain on her back. She winces in pain. She completely forgot that she was stabbed in the back by Patrick before blacking out. 'Crap, I can't do much with this.' She had to think of a plan quickly. Captain Patrick was already grinning as he knew that she can't do anything that would make the wound worse. Luckily she was slowly bleeding but time was running out before she would lose too much.

Just like that, she came up with an idea. Luci looks at each Amrine and flashes a griun. "Feel what I feel" She said in a devilish tone. All around, they were yelling in pain as if they were being stabbed. Luci used her powers to manipulate all the Marines and had them believe they were being stabbed in the back like she was. "Hallucinations. I have learned this myself and with the help of books." She said to Captain Patrick, who was looking angrier by the second. Each Marine fell to the ground wanting the pain to stop. Luci walks over to Patrick with whatever strength she had left.

He did not know what to do. He had never seen Luci do this before, which scared him. But he did not show his fear. He did not want her to see he was cracking on the inside. "I could make this stop but I could also make you feel the pain as well. Luci then backs away slightly and uses her telekinesis to force Patrick down to the ground. She makes the pain stop for each Marine. They all look up at her and at Patrick wondering what she is gonna do next. Luci looks down at Patrick, who was looking up at her. He only said one thing to her. "No one ever wanted you."

With that, She breaks his back with her powers, which leaves him barely clinging to life. She then bends down, grabs something from his pocket, and stands back up. She looks at each marine as they watch in fear. "You will take him to your Command and make sure he is on trial for what he did. He was unfit to be a captain." They all nodded in agreement. She had used mind control on them so she could be set free. Luci then walks over to a nearby dinghy that was tied onto the ship. She gets on and unties it, setting the boat down onto the sea. Luci leaves the Marine ship unharmed and feeling free.

She was finally free from years of torment and manipulation. She closed her eyes and her eyes became blue. She looks back and sees the Marine ship leaving. "They know I have a bounty on my head and that they will be looking for me." Luci takes out the crumbled wanted poster of her that she grabbed from Patrick's pocket that she had in her left hand. She sighs and looks out into the vast sea, "Luffy, everyone, I am coming back." She rows the boat with the oars from inside the boat and goes off to find them.
