Chapter 11
"Can we watch a movie today?" Aadi asked me while I was driving. We were going to the office where I would go in and work and Lucas will pick his car up and go back to his place. I looked at the rear view mirror at both Aadi and Amy and they gave me the cutest puppy dog eyes. I know that they are trying to manipulate me. I have to say no. I am going to say no.
"Sure." I saw Lucas trying to hide his smile and hurriedly added. "After you finish your homework which I am sure you didn't do yesterday."
"I've finished mine." Amy replied.
"Then you will help your brother. And when both of you are done, I'll switch on my laptop and both of you can watch Frozen."
"Frozen? But that's a girlish movie!" The whine came from Aadi. "Can we watch Cars?"
"Noooooooo!" Amy whined.
"Okay. Okay hush! What about Brave?"
"Yes I can watch Brave." Aadi replied.
"Yayy! Brave!" Amy started clapping with excitement.
I sighed with relief.
"Situation diffused." Lucas murmured under his breath with a smile.
"Shut up."
When we reached the FBI building, I parked the car and ushered the kids and Lucas out of the car, then all of us walked towards Lucas's car.
"Thanks for last night. And sorry for all the emotional drama." I laughed self-consciously.
"Hey," he lifted my chin so I was looking directly into his eyes. "Your secret's safe with me." Then he turned, sat in his car and drove away. Leaving me staring and stunned behind.
"Maasi!" Aadi and Amy's voice pulled me back from my reverie. I caught hold of both them, holding one of their hands in each of mine and started walking towards the Starbuck, which is right next to our building.
When I reached the counter I ordered mine and Mike's coffee and then looked at the kids.
"I want a strawberry smoothie." Amy replied.
"And I'll have a chocolate smoothie." Said Aadi.
I relayed their orders to Peter, the man who normally takes my order.
"Here we go, a large Vanilla Latte, a large Café Americano and a large chocolate and strawberry smoothies."
"Thanks Peter."
"Have a good day Shanaya." He smiled at me.
"You too, Peter. You too." I smiled back at him and started walking out of Starbucks.
Once we reached my office cabin, I all but pushed the kids inside and locked the door.
"Okay, here's the rules." I took a deep breath and schooled my features into a strict one. Then I faced them. "You will not make any noise. You will not go out without asking me first. If I am not here, you will phone me up and ask me. You will not touch anything that you are not suppose to touch and if you break any of these rules I will drop you at Manya maasi's office next time instead of bringing you here with me, okay?"
"Yes maasi." They both said in unison. I looked at them with suspicion but then decided to lay all my cards on the table.
"My boss's boss is here and if he finds out that you both are here then he will be very angry with me and will punish me. Do we want that?"
