Odd Behavior

Cassandra headed towards the main entrance of the castle along with Eugene. It felt weird wearing no shoes as the floor was very cold. She wondered how Rapunzel used to survive.

The whole while she tried to look at everything except Eugene's eyes. She was afraid that he may realize that she isn't his Blondie but his nemesis. He may even put her in jail for that. After all he still had the position of captain of the guards.

Another reason she didn't want him to find out was because he was engaged to the princess, he will become the king and she was hoping he would have the right mind and give her his position, which she badly wanted. If he found out their secret he may not even agree to let her have a chance.

Cassandra pushed all the bad thoughts away. 

"Uh...Sunshine, your going to-"

That was the last thing she heard before she banged straight into a tree.

"Ouch" she groaned as she rubbed her head.

"Rapunzel are you okay?" she heard Eugene question.

"DO I LOOK FINE TO YOU???" she shrieked.

That's when she realized that she shouldn't be saying that.

"Uh I mean...Sure I'm completely fine" she gave him a fake smile.

Eugene was quite confused about her behavior but he didn't say anything.

"Rapunzel, Honey are you okay?"

The king and queen appeared from the door.

"Uh.. ya" she tried to think what Rapunzel would say, "I just bumped into a .... ChErrY ChEERy tReE!"

Eugene helped her up.

"You sure you didn't break anything?" asked her father

"Yup...not a single bRiGHty BonY bONe!"

During the Carriage Ride

"What an amazing ride isn't it people? I mean look at the sun...It looks so shiny as if it decided to shine specially for my perfectly, just cut, hair." Eugene boasted to the Royal family who didn't seem to be paying attention. 

Rapunzel's Father, Fredrick, took that moment to go through some scroll's which he had bought along with him for the ride. Rapunzel (Or should I say Cassandra) was busy staring out of the window...completely bored. The queen had bigger concerns.

She approached to Cassandra and sat near her.

"Honey is something wrong?" she asked Cassandra, Who had not noticed the queen.

It took her twelve minutes to realize that the queen was speaking to her.

"I'm fine mo-" she hesitated before continuing, "mom"

Never in her life had she found it so hard to call someone mom. Why was it hard? Its not even her mom so why was she so uncertain?

"Rapunzel... what's the matter?" Queen Arianna asked her gently.

"Well..." 

Cassandra suddenly felt guilty. She didn't know why. She felt bad having to lie to the queen. The queen was so nice and gentle. When Cassandra had been brought to the castle the queen played with her like she was her own daughter. It just didn't feel right...

"Well... I just have been feeling a bit low since I found out I forgot Monty's birthday..." she lied quickly.

The queen gave her a confused look.

"But honey, you don't like Monty..." she retorted

"Uh...ya" 

Cassandra just remembered that Rapunzel hated Monty.

"But as soon as the war ended...I...wanted to make peace with everybody" she said

"Including Monty" she added.

"Oh okay"

The queen got up and sat next to her husband.

"Don't you think Rapunzel has been acting odd today" she asked him

"Who? Rapunzel? no, she ate lunch" he replied not looking up from those scrolls.

"Fredrick are you listening to me?"

"yes Rapunzel, I am"

He got a Sharpe nudge.

"OUch...Oh Arianna! why did you give me that?"

"How many times have i told you about getting work on holidays??"

"But-t..the villagers are-"

"No buts"

"But listen atleast-"

"Whose driving?" Eugene asked trying to change the subject.

"The driver of Corse" stated Cassandra.

"No...the driver's here" he said pointing to Lance who was playing cards with him.
