A U R O R A
It's been two days since the incident with Luke and I haven't seen him around since. At lunch, it was just me and Elle so she asked all about our endeavours.
"Aurora, seriously?" She asked in disbelief after I told her about our impromptu sleepover. "Yes, seriously. I didn't mean for it to happen either, okay." I reassured her.
"This is so fun!" She exclaimed while I choked on my drink. "Fun? You call this juvenile trouble fun?"
"Of course! This is what high school's about, Aurora! All the sneaking around and spontaneous whatever!"
"Getting food poisoned was not a spontaneous whatever--"
"If you're not gonna party all night or drink a few beers here and there, where else are you gonna make your memories?"
"I don't think I made it clear, I was retching into Luke's toilet--"
"Aurora!" She raised her voice slightly with excitement. "What?" I asked exasperated.
"What if Luke's your high school adventure?"
"My what?"
"Just imagine it! When you look back at your high school years, you'll be telling stories of you and your Australian boy space friend, as far as we're concerned, and all your insane nights out or drives through the night or walks in the park."
"Earth to Elle! I barely know this guy, as I've emphasized a billion times. I don't know or care to know what secrets lie under all his beautiful features if all it gets me is trouble. I mean, the two times we're together I nearly get in trouble!"
"But you didn't get in trouble." She added with a wink.
"I don't want to push it, Elle."
She rolled her eyes. "Oh say all you want, he's still your partner for the next few weeks, there's lots of time to get in trouble with him."
"No thank you." I said matter of factly as we took our trays and stood.
"Well, too bad. You don't get to choose what you get yourself into."
"And why not?"
"Because I'm pretty sure you're already in to Luke, even in the slightest non-romantic way and he is too. So, good luck, Aurora." We dropped our trays. "You might need it." She winked before running off and leaving me without words.
I wasn't in to Luke! Yes, he's cute and yes, he's nice and yes, I'd like to know many things about him that I probably won't have the pleasure of knowing without proper trouble making but I wasn't in to him! I was just curious.
And anyways, why would he be in to me? I'm an open book, there's nothing about me that no one knows. I have nothing to hide or anything special in me which makes me as interesting as the next girl named after a Disney princess.
I swiftly ran the brush down the canvas to create the very last stroke in the painting. It was a thick band of yellow running down the black and gray background. I set the paint brush down and reached for a thinner and smaller one. I carefully dipped it in black paint and quickly signed the artwork on the lower right side. Once I was done, I quickly closed my eyes and stood from my chair, not wanting to see whatever it was that I made until it was completely dry and too late to change anything.
"You can pick up your canvases after classes today." The teacher in the front announced. I took off the apron I was wearing and hung it up beside the rest of the class's.
