The truth

The week went by fast and the whole school was counting down to prom

Tonight, was the Friday night game, I don't usually go to these, but since I'm dating Jake, I decided to come and support him

Announcer: It's time to play some football! The John Hughes Wasps take on the North Compton Wildcats

I saw Jake run onto the field and he turned around and found me in the crowd, he waved and blew a kiss, God, he is so cute

Crowd: WOOO!

Time went on and the first half was done

Announcer: That's the fastest half of football I've ever seen

Jake's POV (locker room)

Jake: Reggie Ray, you alright?

Reggie Ray: Coach says it's okay to bleed from the ears, I got to go back out on the field

Jake: All right, be careful, you only have three-, two concussions left, Reggie Ray

Announcer: And we're back

Crowd: Let's go wasps!

Wasp player: Blue 33! Set!

Wildcat player: That's defence right there

Announcer: Say 'good day' to Reggie Ray

Jake ran up because Reggie Ray wasn't getting up, but coach stopped him

Coach: Sit down, he just got the wind knocked out of him

Guy 1: Come on, Reggie Ray, get up!

Medic: It doesn't look good, coach

Coach: Can he play?

Medic: He's in a coma

Coach: Answer my question! Can he play?

Medic: He can't breathe, we need to get him to the hospital

Coach: Okay, Wyler, I've got no choice, you're the only quarterback I've got

Announcer: Only 25 seconds remaining, and the season rests in the hands of fourth-string quarterback Jake Wyler

Before the game started Jake turned to me and waved, I waved back and mouthed 'I love you' which is true I do love him, he's the best boyfriend I could ask for

Jake: Set! Hut!

Announcer: Shit, that has to be the worst pass I've ever seen

Y/N's POV

After the game, Jake was walking out, and I was behind him trying to catch up

Y/N: You did great out there

Jake: I blew the game Y/N, I let everyone down

Y/N: It's just a football game, Jake, besides you didn't let me down

Jake: Really?

Y/N: Jake, you've taught me to be myself, you never saw me as the shy, smart girl

Jake: Don't forget that you never went to a party

Y/N: Well, I'm glad you took me to my first one

Jake pulled me into a hug and kissed my forehead, we continued to hug until we were interrupted

Austin: Jake Wyler, congratulations, you just blew my perfect season, seor-you-blew-my-perfect-season

Jake: What do you want, Austin?

Austin: A life, and payback

Jake: Come on, don't do this

Austin: No, I'll hang around, maybe tell Y/N a little S-E-C-R-A-T-P....

Y/N: Jake, what's going on?

Austin whispered in my ear "I'm pretending to whisper, so Jake thinks I'm telling you a secret and confirming everything I whispered in your ear"

Jake: Austin, this isn't funny!

Y/N: No, I don't believe it

Jake: Alright, Y/N, I said I'd turn you into prom queen when I thought you were shy and ugly, the girl with no friends who never went to parties, look, I made a mistake, if I could go back, I never would've made that stupid bet

Y/N: What bet?

Austin: I never said anything about a bet, all I said was 'I'm pretending to whisper, so Jake thinks I'm telling you a secret and confirming everything I whispered in your ear'

Jake: We made a stupid bet, that I could make you prom queen

Jake: I wish I didn't make that bet, that's not the guy I want to be, if I could just turn back the clock, then Y/N will still be with me

Y/N's POV

I got home with tears in my eyes, I didn't look at my parents, I just went straight to my room and cried into my pillow

Mum: Sweetie, what happened?

Y/N: Jake is an asshole, mum, what should I do? I love him, but he has been untrue, I want to make things right and resolve this fight

Mum: It could happen

Y/N: How? We're both going to college

Mum: Tomorrow, at the prom
