Chapter 3: "Meet the headmaster"

Eventually, The Revenant found himself in a dimly lit interrogation room with the cloaked girl he was with earlier... All while wearing electroshock handcuffs.

'Just my luck...' He thought.

For a moment, there was nothing but silence.

That was until...

"So... Are you really The Revenant?" The girl asked as she looked at the handcuffed vigilante with her shiny, silver eyes.

'Hmm.... Silver eyes...' The Revenant thought before he decided to entertain the girl.

"Yup. Guess my work is known far and wide after all," The Revenant said with a smirk behind his helmet.

"Holy moly... I can't believe it! You're... YOU'RE ACTUALLY REAL!" The girl exclaimed excitedly.

"Why do you think scumbags shake in their boots whenever my name's bought up in a room? 'Cause I'm real, of course!" The Revenant replied in his deep, husky, altered voice. "So, now that you know who I am, you are...?"

"Oh, Ruby Rose! It's nice to meet you!" Ruby said with excitement as she held out her hand for a handshake, which the vigilante tried to return with his own amidst his current situation.

"So, what brings you here to Vale?" She asked.

"Well, that's classified. But of course, I'm here to do some "clean up." I'm pretty sure you know what that means," The Revenant replied.

"Oh, I see. But... Do you have any idea as to what we're possibly doing here?" Ruby asked.

"For me, I'm pretty sure it's obvious. Hence the handcuffs. But for you, you're an interesting case..."

"Why so?" Ruby asked with curiosity.

"You have silver eyes..." The Revenant commented.

"Um, thanks? Is that supposed to mean something?"

"You... Seriously don't know?"

"Nope," Ruby replied innocently to the vigilante.

'Should I tell her, or not?' The Revenant thought. 'Plus, her name kind of sounds familiar--.'

But before he could even think about it any further, the door to the interrogation room opened to reveal a refined, yet experienced man with a short, silver mane. He held himself in a formal, yet calm manner, while holding a cane in one hand and a coffee mug in the other. Alongside him was Glynda Goodwitch from earlier, who was carrying a plate full of cookies.

"Good evening miss Rose, Revenant," the man said as he nodded to Ruby and The Revenant and placed his coffee mug on the table.

"You... Know my name, sir?" Ruby asked nervously.

"Why of course. Your father, Taiyang, told me a lot about you. So did your mother, Summer Rose," the man replied formally. "As for you, Revenant... I wasn't expecting you to be here in Vale."

"I go wherever there's trash to be cleaned up from the streets, professor Ozpin," The Revenant replied in a smug manner. "By trash, I mean crooks who need a lead filling or two."

"Wait, hold on a sec, you're professor Ozpin? A-As in... The headmaster of Beacon Academy?!" Ruby asked.

"Indeed, miss Rose," Ozpin replied. "You... Have silver eyes."

"Um... Thanks? I guess?" Ruby replied, all while having no idea of what Ozpin is implying.

Glynda then laid the plate full of cookies on the table, which made Ruby feel hungry at the sight of the snacks.

"Um... May I?" Ruby asked, to which Ozpin simply replied with a nod.

Ruby then started digging into the cookies slowly, but surely. Then, she began to speed up so fast that The Revenant could swear that she can almost rival his speed.

"Now, I'm certain the both of you are wondering why you have been brought here, correct?" Ozpin asked formally.

"I'm pretty sure the handcuffs on my hands are already a clear indicator of the answer," The Revenant replied in a smug manner.

"Miss Goodwitch, would you kindly remove our guest's restraints?"

"But professor, he's The Revenant! He's a dangerous individual!"

"Who just so happens to also be our guest for tonight. Please, Glynda."

Glynda simply sighed in annoyance as she reached for something in her skirt's pocket: a remote. She then pressed a button on the remote, causing the electroshock handcuffs on The Revenant to come undone and fall on the table.

"Thank you, ma'am," the vigilante replied smugly to Glynda, who merely scoffed at him as a reply.

"Now, I'm not going to waste your time. So, I'll just cut to the chase. Tonight, I have seen your skills come alive during this night's... Fiasco. I came here with a proposition for the both of you, that is if both of you are willing to listen."

"Sure thing!" Ruby replied, after having devoured the entire batch of cookies.

"Eh, why not?" The Revenant replied.

"I would like the both of you... To join Beacon Academy."

"WHAT?!" Ruby and The Revenant asked in tandem as they both feel surprised.

"Indeed. I would like the both of you to join the ranks of my huntsmen and huntresses. That is, if both of you are willing to accept my offer," Ozpin replied.

"Well... Sure. Why not?" The Revenant replied smugly.
"Yes! Yes! Yes! So, is there anything I need to go through first? An interview? An initiation? Please tell me!" Ruby asked with excitement.

"Ruby, chill."

"Hehe. Sorry..." Ruby replied to The Revenant innocently.

"So, I trust that the both of you are willing to accept?" Ozpin asked.

"It's a yes for me," The Revenant replied.

"Me too!" Ruby replied.

"I see... However, if I may ask... Why though?" Ozpin asked.

"Well, for me... I'm just in it out of curiosity. Specifically, I wanna see how the huntsmen and huntresses in training are doing. Also, I welcome any opportunity to be able to help clean up more of society's trash," The Revenant replied with a smirk behind his helmet.

"What about you, Ruby Rose?" Ozpin asked.

"Well... I want to become a huntress because I want to be like my mom, Summer Rose. She taught me to always look at the bright side, and always look for the best in people. I want to follow in her footsteps, and honor her memory," Ruby replied.

"I see... Well then, I believe that is it for today. Thank you for giving us some of your time. Now, I believe it's time for you both to--."

"Sayonara!" The Revenant exclaimed as he stood up and walked into the darkness of the shadows and disappeared.

For a moment, there was silence in the room due to everyone being surprised at the vigilante's disappearance in the shadows.

"D-Did... H-He... J-Just..." Ruby asked anxiously.

"I believe he just did, miss Rose," Ozpin replied in a normal manner.

"B-But... How did he--," Glynda tried to say.

"I believe it's time we return to the academy, Glynda. It's time for miss Rose here to go home," Ozpin said. "Besides, I believe we already accomplished our goal for the day..."
