CHAPTER 08

"Your birthday is coming. So excited for that day!"

Looking at me with excitement, Dad suddenly brought that up.

Nasa hapag kami ngayon, sabay na kumakain dahil thankfully umuwi siya ng maaga. He just closed a deal with his client today. That's what he told me the moment we started to eat and now, he wanna talk about my upcoming birthday.

"Yes, Dad." Sagot ko.

"We better prepare the best since my co-business workers are coming." He shrugged while eating.

I met the caterers and decorators last week. I told them to do whatever they want to do. Wala naman iyon sa 'kin dahil kahit anong motif or design ng birthday theme ko ay ayos na saakin. It's not that big deal as long as my brothers and friends will be there.

"If that's what you want.. then I'll just go with it."

"Invite all your friends in your school."

Natigilan ako.

As if madami akong friends.

Kaela and Ava are my only friend at school. Pati na rin si Clyden. Wala nang iba.

Hindi na ako nagsalita. Nagpatuloy na akong kumain. I went to my room after the dinner. Dad also went to his little lobby to do some paperwork. Hindi na talaga siya nawawalan ng trabaho kahit sa bahay.

Naramdaman ko ang pagkabagot kaya naman naisipan kong bumaba ulit at pumunta sa front yard.

It's dark because the lights were dimmed. Okay lang naman. I'm not scared though.

Malamig din sa labas pero nag-stay ako dahil gusto kong pagmasdan ang bilog na buwan. It's so beautiful. Full moon kasi ngayon. I can't help myself but to mesmerize with its shining beauty.

Moon really gives me comfort. I don't know why.

"Ganda ng buwan 'di ba, Madam?"

Out of nowhere, there's this Gabo who suddenly went behind me so I got really scared that I almost smacked his face.

"What the hell!" Hindi ko napigilang matampal ang braso niya, pero mahina lang naman.

My soul really abandoned my body for a second!

"Bakit bigla-bigla ka na lang sumusulpot? You're giving me heart attack!"

Narinig ko ang mahina niyang tawa. He's liking it. Gusto niyang nakikita akong iritado.

"I'm sorry. Hindi ko sinasadyang gulatin ka." Medyo sincere ang pagkakasabi niya pero nandun pa rin ang maliit niyang tawa.

"Haha funny." Then I rolled eyes.

The guts to laugh at me huh!

"Ba't gising ka pa, Madam? Baka magpakita sa 'yo 'yong white lady.." He start teasing me.

"Stop fooling me around, I don't believe that anymore."

Nag-krus ako ng kamay sa dibdib. Pinagmamasdan pa rin ang buwan.

I just kinda feel something weird. Parang kinakabahan ako ng kunti. My palms are sweating just now.

I am wearing a sleeveless top and my red pajama.  Some of the people here are probably sleeping na.

Bakit kaya gising pa 'tong isang 'to?

"Ba't gising ka pa pala?"

He just asked what I thought!

We probably share the same thoughts.

"Because I'm bored." Sagot ko habang nakatingin pa rin sa langit. "Ikaw? Ba't hindi ka pa natutulog?"
