Chapter 09

"Ma'am, may package pong dumating. Gising na po ba kayo?"

Nagising ang diwa ko dahil sa tawag ni Lily sa 'kin. Umuulan ngayon. Malamig, kaya naman ang sarap ng tulog ko kagabi. Bumangon ako sa pagkakahiga at nag-stretch ng kamay.

It was such a good sleep but someone has to ruined it!

Minsan lang maging masarap ang tulog ko tapos maiistorbo pa.

She can just leave it outside or wait till I wake up.

Napalingon ako sa maliit na orasan na nasa side table. Nakatalikod 'yon kaya naman kinuha ko para tingnan kung anong oras na ba. Napabalikwas ako sa kama nang makitang alas-siete na.

"Shit! Late na ako!"

I thought it's weekend! Friday pa lang pala! Tumayo ako at nagsuot ng slippers. I opened the door to get the package from Lily. I have no idea what it is. Lily said it was from my Dad. Mamaya ko na lang bubuksan.

"Thank you, Lily!" Then I closed the door again to prepare for School.

I put the package on the mini-table and went to my walk in closet.

Wash day ngayon kaya pwede akong magsuot ng kahit anong damit. Medyo nahirapan pa akong maghanap ng masusuot pero sa huli ay napili kong suotin na lang ang Neck Dress na binili ni Dad sa 'kin last month.

It is an Allover Cherry Sweetheart Neck Dress. Simple but elegant.

I took a quick bath after picking what to wear. I never thought I could move this fast. Maybe pressure got me since I'm running out of time.

Wala akong sinayang na oras, lumabas na ako ng kwarto at bumababa sa hagdanan. Buti na lang at ready to go na ang sasakyan nang bumaba ako. I straightly went inside the car.

"Good morning, Madam-"

"Let's go, Gabo. I'm late, I'll miss a long quiz if did not enter the class on time."

I felt a little guilt by cutting him off. Tumango naman agad siya at pinaandar na ang sasakyan. He starts driving it fast while I'm at the backseat, feeling worried.

We have a long quiz in our first subject.

Terror pa naman ang teacher namin dun. She won't let me enter the room if I came late!

It's traffic for goodness sake!

Bakit kasi hindi inagahan ni Lily na gisingin ako? Well, I usually wake up on my own since I got used to it. I don't set alarm neither. Siguro ang sarap lang talaga ng tulog ko kagabi kaya hindi ako nagising ng maaga.

I also assumed that it's weekend.

"Ayos ka lang?" Gabo asked, trying to glance at me through the mirror.

"No. My teacher would probably humiliate me in front of the class and won't let me take the quiz.."

I saw him furrowed brows while looking now at the road. "Gawain ba 'yan ng teacher mo?"

"Well.. she once humiliate me and some of my classmates but not always.."

"Don't worry. Makakarating ka sa oras." He assured me like he knows what will happen next.

Hindi na ako nagsalita at pinagmasdan ko na lang siya sa salamin. All I could see is his eyes. He looked focus of what he's doing. Napagtanto ko rin na hindi nga pala ako nakapag-ayos dahil sa sobrang pagmamadali.

Mukha ata akong lushang ngayon!

I was about to get my liptint and foundation when he suddenly uttered something that I didn't hear because he beeped the car.
