CHAPTER TWENTY SIX

Nicholai still hasn't woken up after two days. My parents were concerned because I stayed by his side and checked on him at all times. They told me to return home, but I'm unable to do so. What if Nic wakes up and searches for me? My friends are also pleading with me to take a break because Nicholai will wake up soon and I won't have to be concerned.

Dein's mother ran up to me yesterday, saying that it was my fault that his son was locked up. I can't hold it against her. She's a mother, and I don't think any mother will be delighted to see their son in jail.

As I finished my meal at the hospital cafeteria, I sighed. It's not totally finished, to be sure. Because of what happened to Nic, I've had no appetite for the previous few days.

He better wake up soon.

I immediately returned to Nicholai's room seeing Theo and Minnie who's sitting on the sofa. They immediately shifted their eyes to me.

"Hey," I managed to say and sat on the chair beside Nicholai.

"Hey your face, come with me I'll drop you home," Theo said and was about to stand up when i spoke

"No, I'll stay here," I said and held Nicholai's hand

"C'mmon Freya, he won't disappear. You need to take a rest." Minnie said and gave me an annoyed face

"I- I'll take a rest here," I said and looked away

Minnie sighed frustratedly and brought her hands to her hips

"Freya, your mom, and dad are worried about you. You should come home. I'll take care of Nic and wait for his parents." Minnie said. She's losing her patience, judging by the tone of her speech. She had been pleading with me to take a break, but I refused.

"She's right, Freya," Theo said and looked at me worriedly

"Why do you keep on insisting---"

"Do you think Nic would be glad to learn that her girlfriend was deprived of sleep for two days as a result of him? Do you think he'll be pleased to learn that you eat so little, and that you sometimes don't eat at all?" Minnie blurted out with her irritated tone

"I--ah..."

"Listen to us and go home. Theo will drive you there. Don't be stubborn. I'll stay here." Minnie said and started to pack my things for me

She's right...

I sighed and stood up. I walked close to her and hugged her from her back.

"What--"

"I'm sorry for worrying you," I mumbled enough for her to hear it

//MINNIE

"Wake up, okay? I'll be back tomorrow." Freya said and kissed Nicholai's forehead

It's been two days since he got shot and he's still not waking up.

Aish...

He should wake up.

My best friend has been crying almost every time. I'm worried about her. I know that she's not getting enough sleep based on her eye bags. 

"take care of her," I whispered to Theo who nodded instantly

"I will," He said and kissed me on my cheeks.

I glanced at Freya and smiled at her

I'm happy that she'll go home now to take a break.

The three of us bid our goodbyes leaving me alone inside Nicholai's room.

I sighed and sat beside him
