//NICHOLAI MACQUARRIE

Something is off with Freya before we go home. She's not talking unless you ask her questions which is strange because every time that the four of us are together, she's talkative and energetic. I asked her if she is feeling alright, she just nodded and smiled at me. I love her smile but the smile she gave me tells me she's not okay.

I'm really bothered by the actions that she is showing.

when I got home, I immediately greeted my parents and gave them a kiss on their cheeks. They still don't know that I am now part of Winterville High's basketball team. I have no plans on telling them because I know that they will not listen to me and will force me to stop playing.

I know that it's a bad idea. They'll eventually know but I won't think about that for now.

"Dinner?" My dad asked and took a sip of his beer while watching a documentary in the living room.

I shook my head no

"I already ate, dad. I ate with my friends" I said and smiled when I saw mom leaning her head on dad's shoulder. They became more clingy with each other when they got back together.

They may not be perfect parents but I know that they did their best to raise me despite their separation when I was still young. Even though I don't have their blood they treated me so good and they love me so much.

when I reached my bedroom I dropped my bag on the floor and immediately texted Freya

To: Freya

- Hey, are you really okay? I'm worried :<

I hit the send button and decided to take a bath while I wait for her reply.

A couple of minutes later, I was done with my shower. I grabbed my phone and opened Freya's message

From: Freya

- I'm fine.

she doesn't seem fine to me.

I decided to not text her back. Maybe she's just not feeling well. I hope she feels better soon.

"can I invite my friends to come over?" I asked my parents

we are currently eating our breakfast.

I usually eat breakfast with them every weekend before they go to work.

"Who are these friends?" My mother asked me and took a bite of her bacon.

"They're my classmates. Theo, Minnie, and Freya" I answered and smiled when Freya's name slips out of my mouth

my dad hummed and smiled at my mother

"So, Freya's the girlfriend?" He asked with a teasing tone

I almost choked with what he said.

"N-No. She's just a friend---"

"Hun, You can't fool us. The way you smile while saying her name says it all. Do you like her?" My mom said and smiled widely

I felt my cheeks burning with their questions

"I- I kind of...She's...Okay fine, I like her. Very much" I confessed

they both let out a chuckle

"We'll be looking forward to meeting this girl" Dad said and pointed his fork at me
