Amelia rushed to the source of the scream. Just a bit north from where she and Pierre were sitting were a couple of female junior students being held hostage by thick vines coming out of a tree. The moment they saw Amelia, their cries became louder than before.
Amelia froze in her tracks. "Whoa. The thing's a beanstalk. . ."
"Help!" the blonde girl yelled. "Please! "Get us out of here!"
"C-coming!" Amelia sprinted to the overgrowing stalks. Grabbing the blonde's free hand, Amelia pulled her with all her strength. The vines eventually gave up and let go, causing the girl to collapse on Amelia.
"T-Thank you," the sophomore stammered.
Pushing the girl's body away, Amelia groaned. "Thank me later. Let's save your friend first."
The two of them got up and reached for the blonde's spectacled partner. Amelia almost got a hold on the girl when the stalk lashed out like a whip. The girl shrieked as she was thrown into the air like a rag doll.
"Lily!" the blonde cried.
Amelia didn't waste a second and ran towards Lily, even though she was certain that she wouldn't be able to catch her. Lily was almost a few feet off the ground but a familiar face jumped below the falling girl, catching her in time.
Zeus winked at Lilly. "You okay, beautiful?"
"Get me down this instant!" Lily scowled, much to Amelia's surprise. She expected her to say something. . . nicer, since he just saved her life.
Zeus withdrew his arms with a shrug, and Lily fell on her behind. Standing up, she glared at him as she dusted her clothes and stomped back to her blonde friend. The two exchanged a quick hug before running away from the garden.
Pushing herself past a bunch of extending sunflowers, Amelia walked to Zeus. "Zeus, what are you doing here?"
"Oh, can't I just be around you, Ames?" Zeus asked, grinning. "Just kidding. I was gonna go to the library when a bunch of students just came running for their lives. I figured something wrong happened. Any idea what?"
"Not a clue." Amelia shook her head. "For now, let's make sure the rest of the students aren't in the same trouble like those two girls. And we should probably find out why the plants suddenly got into a frenzy while at it."
Amelia and Zeus dashed into the deeper parts of the garden. Along the way, they came across students either cornered by or buried under various types of plants, but the two of them were able to help them out and lead them to safety.
"Go, go, go!" Zeus shouted as he kicked an incoming cactus out of the way. The last of the students ran to the cleared path and out of the chaotic place. A boy stopped in front of Amelia and Zeus, his finger pointing shakily at something in the distance.
"I-I think there's still someone that needs help over there," he said, panting. "I wasn't s-sure what to do, but I—"
"It's okay, we'll take care of it," Amelia said. "Now go!"
