Ivy's eyes remained glued on the mysterious words glowing on the Greek papyrus. "Just when I thought I could handle weird stuff in my life because of the experience I've got from my. . . powers, this definitely is a whole new level of weirdness." She paused. "By the way, is this paper eco-friendly?"
"I. . . really don't know." Amelia shrugged half-heartedly. "But anyway, the papyrus glows every once in a while. And since there are still seven Artifacts left, we'll get more of these 'weird glowing'. We just need our translator to come here and find out what it means."
Ivy turned to Zeus. "I'm guessing that's your sister, Athena, right?"
"Yep," Zeus said. "I'm also guessing that she's also popular around the school."
"Uh, obviously." Ivy raised a brow. "She's the smartest girl on campus, plus she's one of the principal's kids. Of course she's popular. . . well, not as popular as you, though."
The elevator's doors slid open, revealing Athena, who, unlike them, was still in her uniform even though classes were already over. She stepped into the room with her attention on the screen of her phone.
Zeus smirked. "Speaking of the devil. . ."
Amelia waved at Athena. "Glad you could finally join us."
"I would've come sooner but I had something important to do." Looking up, Athena paused on her tracks and pointed at Ivy. "Why is there a stranger here?"
"Hi!" Ivy greeted her. "The name's Ivy. I'm a big fan of you, by the way."
"I didn't ask," Athena deadpanned, then looked at Zeus and Amelia. "Need I even tell you that the secret base is supposed to be secret?"
Zeus walked over to his sister, nudging her side. "Relax, sis. This one's an exception."
Athena narrowed her eyes. "How so?"
"She's Demeter's Chosen," Amelia said.
"What?"
Amelia explained to her the disruption that happened in the garden earlier, from the chaos that it brought in the area to the quick response Zeus gave to the crowd of terrified students. Zeus especially didn't let that moment pass and bragged about it for several beats until Athena punched him in the arm.
"Alright, alright! I'm gonna stop!"
Athena rolled her eyes. "Anyway, when did she get her powers?"
At her question, the three of them all averted their gaze to Ivy.
"I. . . well, it happened a few months ago," Ivy began, "but long story short, I got into a really sticky situation and somehow I got saved by my house plants. I still can't believe that I have control over them. . . I mean, I consider plants as friends, not as puppets to use for my personal goals."
