The whole Abba Sulayman family together with Halima excluding Fatima and Sa'eed are at the hospital awaiting the doctor's diagnosis on Innayo. Sa'eed had stupidly hit her with a whip and her head had started bleeding. Halima had hurriedly called Amal and together, they had rushed her to the hospital. That leads to now.

A doctor walks out of the ER with a blank look on his face. He looks at each of them, his eyes lingering a bit on Amal. His tag says 'Dr. Aliyu Usman Kwami'.

"One of you should follow me." Dr. Kwami says and Halima follows him limping. They all notice her limping and exchange questioning looks.

"What's wrong with Adda Halima?" Amal and Afnan ask each other simultaneously.

Afnan is sitting alone in front of Innayo's hospital bed. She's suddenly feeling cold so she walks to the window only to realize that the windows are actually closed. Thinking it's the air conditioner, she walks towards it only to realize it's also switched off.

She huffs silently and goes to check among the clothes she brought with her and unfortunately for her, she forgot to bring a blanket and her Hijab is not thick. Annoyed with herself for her forgetfulness, she takes the not so thick Hijab and wraps around herself. She shivers due to the cold she's feeling and drags the Hijab higher up.

Unlocking her phone, she taps wattpad - an app for reading and writing stories. She scrolls through her library, before finally settling on reading Mehr by aishatu_xx, her all-time favorite. She has read that book countless of times and it doesn't seem like she's going get tired of it anytime soon.

Unconsciously, the phone slips out of her hand and she falls asleep.

Dr. Aliyu Kwami sighs, rubbing his temples. That girl is really messing with his head. Her quietness, the way her lips quivered when she was awaiting the results of her mother, the way she lowered her eyes when their eyes met - those beautiful mesmerizing orbs that managed to draw him in. She's too beautiful to be ignored. He stands up when his alarm rids him of his thoughts. It's time for his rounds.

He first goes to room 101. There lays a thirteen year old girl with dysmenorrhea. She started her period yesterday and she suddenly lost consciousness. Her mother was disheveled. She rushed her down to the hospital the moment she found her unconscious in the bathroom lying in the pool of her own menstrual blood, it was such a heinous sight. When she was brought, her rice colored dress had turned red.

He asks her a few questions and so far, she's feeling better. She should be discharged in a few days. He gives the nurse some instructions and wishes the sick girl a speedy recovery.

Moving on to the next room, a lactating mother who was in an accident lays unconscious. After some check-ups on her he gives the nurse some instructions and that's how he goes around all the rooms, asking questions where necessary. When he reaches the front of the door to Innayo's room, he stops and takes a deep breath then adjusts the stethoscope around his neck. Placing his hands in the pockets of his lab coat, he enters the room, a salaam playing on his lips.

Noticing Afnan's position, his hands unintentionally reach out carry her and just as he's about to carry her, he comes back to his senses. What the hell was he trying to do there? What if... He spurns away the thought before it even manifests then asks the nurse to wake her up.

"I'm sorry we had to disturb you miss..." he trails off not knowing what to call her. He never asked for her name and she never told him, not that he expected her to anyway. That would look desperate of her. But he wouldn't take it as desperation from her, he'd just assume she's also crushing on him.

"Farida, but you can call me Afnan." She says giving a small smile. Dr. Kwami can't help but find himself smiling back widely at her. Awkwardly, Afnan turns her face to the side making Dr. Kwami's smile to drop. He must've looked like a goat.

"We're here to check on Hajiya Aisha. Has she woken up? Any improvements?"

"For now, no. she hasn't stirred at all. I'm even starting to wonder if she'll ever wake up." Tears prickle the sides of Afnan's eyes. Dr. Kwami feels his heart reaching out for the poor girl. Indisputably, she's really affected by her mother's health status.

"Don't worry okay? I'll see to it that she's perfectly fine. Even though it might take a while." Afnan nods once, holding unto his promise. She knows everything is in Allah's hands but she can't help but cling unto those words that bloom hope in her. She sends a silent prayer for her mother before giving the doctor room to examine Innayo.

"Okay, everything is fine now. Just that she's still in a coma and it doesn't seem like she wants to wake up. Just talk to her like you would when she's awake. When she hears something that would awaken her spirit, she'll be forced to wake up." Dr. Kwami says looking deep into Amal's eyes. Feeling uncomfortable, the latter lowers her eye and says an okay.

Dr. Kwami uses that opportunity to look at her properly. She's slim, very slim. She has beige colored skin that makes her look like an Arabian. She has short thick lashes that cast a dark shadow on her cheeks, with her grape colored lips and big sable orbs that are staring at him right now.

"Is there anything on my face, Doctor?" Afnan says pulling him out of his reverie.

"No, just Noor {light} and khayr {goodness}." The nurse that came with Dr. Kwami coos.

Dr. Kwami turns and glares at her making her giggle and run out. He turns to Afnan who is busy blushing profusely.

Walking out after suggesting things that should be done, Dr. Kwami hears his name from the nurses station so he stays back to hear what they are saying about him.

"You know, when he said something in Arabic, she blushed." Series of awws are heard.

"That stupid Muslim girl just came when? Today. And we're already allowing her to take what we've been working for since we started our housemanship here. That shouldn't be the case!" The other nurses stop to hear what she's saying.

"Why so bitter? Aren't you even supposed to be happy that at least someone is making him happy?" One of the nurses says.

"Seems like someone is giving up so easily." The earlier rolls her eyes.

"You shall not touch a strand of hair on Farida's head otherwise you lose your job." Dr. Kwami says in a menacing voice before walking away.

As he enters his office, he releases a breath he didn't know he was holding before using the tip of his well-manicured fingers to rub his temples.

"The nurses are right, I need to do something about this, and fast."
