Afnan sighs. So this is her life now. No means of communication, no freedom, nothing. She feels like a zoo animal. In fact, even a zoo animal has more freedom than she does. Why is her father doing this? The degree he so badly wants her to get isn't going to be of any use to her. She doesn't want to work, she just wants to be a full time housewife who's going to give her home her undivided attention.

She adjusts the neck of her hijab by lifting it up to her chin. She doesn't know what's happening. This hijab has always been her favorite. She is always so free and comfortable in it because of how big it is. She simply loves it. And now it's suddenly choking her?

But Afnan knows it's not choking her at all. She's just simply suffocated by everything that she feels it's the hijab, when it's actually not.

She covers her notes and leans back on the bed's headrest. She isn't able to understand anything that's written in that book. And to say she wrote it herself. What's wrong with her? She wasn't like this before. What's happening to her?

She has always been a very serious student and all of a sudden she's thinking about a man during her reading time? She's really slacking.

She turns to the back of the book to see if she can write down all what she has read but nothing. She stands up and places the books back in her bag, knowing that only one thing can make her concentrate.

She heads for her suitcase and pulls out a beige hardcovered book with glittery back. When she opens it, the first thing she lays her eyes on makes her smile. She reads and to confirm her thoughts, it's really there.

She grabs her pen hurriedly and copy it into her palm. She walks out of the room after straightening the bed spread.

"Assalamu alaikum." Afrah raises her head from the laptop in front of her and squints her eyes. She rubs them and smiles.

"Afnan, ya dai? Come sit here. I just need to finish editing this manuscript. Jira ni." Afnan nods and sit on the bed beside a heavily pregnant Afrah. About twenty minutes later, Afrah sighs and switches off her laptop. She covers it and places it on the bed beside her.

She removes her glasses and folds them. After placing them in their case, she places the case carefully on the laptop and turns to Afnan, giving her her full attention.

"Toh, ya akayi." Afnan plays with her fingers before taking in a deep breath. She just hopes she doesn't get caught, and her risk will be worth it.

"Akwai wani assignment da ska bamu, inason inyi browsing a wayanki. Baba ya karbi nawa." Afrah thinks for some minutes before she stands up. She picks her phone and unlocks it.

"Gashi." Afnan collects the phone thankfully and leaves for her room. She locks it and dials the number on her palm.

"Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh." Afnan almost cries out in joy.

"Doctor." She hears his sharp intake of breath which confirms he recognizes her.

"Farida." They both keep quiet, each not knowing what to say.

"Doctor I want to see you. I'll send you the address you'll meet me at." Afnan ends the call and stands up. She doesn't know the house's exact address, how is she going to do?

She walks out of the room to find Afrah.

"Adda Afrah please what is the house address?" Afrah furrows her brows questionably.

"Order zakiyi ne?" Afnan shakes her head.

"Za'a kawo min note dina ne. Saida na zauna zanyi assignment din then I realized I left my note with a friend. So I called and she said she'll bring it." Afrah looks at her skeptically before collecting the phone and typing in the address.

Afnan collects it and taps send. She gives Afrah back her phone with a smile and walks to her room. She plops on the bed. They'll have to do something. She can't stay away from her braced doctor for the life of her.

A thought occurs to her and she smiles. It's not a good thing but she's willing to do it if she'll get her doctor.

About thirty minutes later, Afrah comes inside the room with the phone in her hand.

"The person is calling you." Afnan collects the phone, hoping Afrah didn't pick the call. She releases a breath of relief when she sees that the phone is still ringing.

She accepts the call and walks out to go meet him.

"I'm outside the house." Afnan replies with an okay and ends the call.

Unfortunately for her, Abba's car drives in immediately she goes out.

"Oh no." She hides the phone and plasters a smile on her face.

"Abba sannu da zuwa." He smiles at her. Innayo hugs her and they proceed inside.

Afnan serves them some refreshments and goes up to her room. She can't go out with her parents in the house. He will have to come inside and meet her.

Afnan calls him.

"Doctor, come in." She ends the call and looks outside the window. She watches as the gateman lets him in. She calls him again and he picks.

"Don't enter through the front door. Look up." Dr. Kwami looks up and their eyes clash.

"There's a ladder right under the window, you have to use it to climb up."

"Are you trying to sneak me into someone's house Farida?" Afnan sighs.

"Just please do as I say." She can see Dr. Kwami shake his head, a sigh of exasperation comes through the phone.

"I can't do this Farida." Afnan huffs.

"Fine. Then go back to where you came from." She hisses and ends the call. She walks back to the bed and sits on it. It's all her fault. She wants to see him, but it seems he doesn't want to see her.

About ten minutes later, a shadow appears by the window which she catches from the corner of her eyes. She turns and it's Dr. Kwami.

Her face breaks into a smile and she helps him in.
