I am amazed.

I stared down into the crystal clear water zooming past before us as Soren flew over it in a straight line, flapping his wings here and there.

I turned my head back with my mouth agape, the leather, the rope, the metal of the fines holding up, all of it, it was all holding up.

I looked at Soren as he stared ahead, flying was in his blood, he feels what needs to be done.

I gripped of tightly as I leaned down, it seems like this we go faster.

Time to try something now that we know we can fly.

I took a deep breath before pressing down my left heel and lifting the pressure of my right the same amount making the fins bend so the left one was tilted down more and the right upwards.

Soren instantly banked to the left, slowly turning in the air as I watched the edge of his wing splash up water into the air before I pulled the fines back straight.

I flew for a long time, getting used to the feeling of squinting my eyes constantly because of the wind and how to move around with Soren.

I flew for so long we had left further from my island then I've ever been, flying between high pillars of rock with mist falling upon us.

I watched in awe as guiding my little man was starting to become ingrained in my mind and I pressed down on both sides, he flapped his tail down as he launched upwards before hitting a pillar.

I held on tight as he was flying straight up, the upwards wind the water caused by hitting the side of the pillars was familiar, it was a similar strong gust of wind that constantly was felt near the cliff Soren used as home with the other wyverns, it helped them with an easier take off.

I smiled brightly until suddenly a ledge came into view and before either of us could do anything Soren hit it full force.

I crossed my arms to protect myself from the impact which sent me flying and I felt the tail fine ropes snap at the great force.

I flailed around as I was thrown into the air away from Soren, my immediate worry was him.

I whistled loud at him as I was trying to grab a wing tip of his tail passing nearby but got no answers.

Fear gripped my heart as I looked at the rapidly approaching water, a fall from this height is.... The both of us will die!

I whistled loud making him squeak as he shook his head before chirping in panic, trying to stabilize himself upright in the air as I fell past him.

I saw him realize what was going on as he dove after me, back talons held out to grab at me.

I bit back a scream of pain as he grabbed my hip and the claws dug into my skin.

I desperately reached up as he tried his best to stop the fall but like before, with my added weight, it didn't change much to our descent speed and I was seeing the wyvern's panic mount in him, chirping desperately as he flapped his wings around.

I grabbed on the rope of the left fine before it slipped through the loop holding it against Soren before twisting to grab the other one and yanked on them.

I felt my left shoulder slam into the water before Soren could finally climb higher into the sky as my muscle strained to hold the fines somewhat flat instead of giving into the trembling that took over the rest of my body along with the pain spreading from my hip and shoulder to the rest of my body.

After a few shaky breaths I looked up at Soren in awe at how easy flight was all of a sudden, I knew a wyvern without tail fins couldn't fly but seeing how much life or death depended on so little was mindbogglingly insane.

I could have died if it wasn't for those fines I took such care in creating.... Now I clearly see why a wyvern is a dead wyvern without them.

I couldn't direct where Soren was flying because of my situation and how my body it facing towards his tail, I could just try to guess where he wanted to go and pull on the ropes accordingly.

I really should find something stronger then this rope if I don't want to die.
