This is not good.

The whole village is on curfew since that 'accident'.

Even before the sun set we had no right to go outside anymore and we could only leave our houses when the village leader came himself to knock on your door to let you out. The security was beefed up.

I was writing whatever the leader was ranting of in the archive books, stuck here listening to his hate because of me possibly being the next leader, the position questioned since the accident in the arena with Soren.

I was watching what I was writing, holding my head with a hand, bored.

"--and we are launching the raid tomorrow night when they sleep." I picked up my head.

"What raid?"

"Weren't you listening Randi? When we were faced with only wyverns we could defend but with that traitor they are much stronger now. On the night of the full moon everyone that can fight will gather and we will scout every inch of our island to find the nest and finally exterminate the enemy and bring safety to us."

The charcoal piece in my hands shattered I was squeezing so hard. No, this can't be happening.

"But we haven't found it in so many years."

"Because we didn't have such an intensive need to find them, you are young but when I was your age we were attacked nightly, nowadays they learned that they shouldn't attack the group of humans.... But now that traitor is at their disposal and will reign terror. Now we must put all our resources in finding them and killing every last one of them."

This is really bad.

"Seems a good plan."

"Yes, now go, curfew starts soon."

"Of course." I stood up with a small bow, he still hasn't forgiven me for not killing Soren that day but trusted a bit still.

Walking back towards home I turned down the wrong street, ducking behind a barrel.

"What? Where is she?" I knew I was being followed, I noticed right away Renva's home and mine were constantly under surveillance.

I waited until the man had walked nearer and jumped up, surprising him, my wrist mounted shield slamming down onto his head.

I tried to catch the unconscious man but he was heavy so I fell over with him.

"Dammit." I stood back up and pulled him where I was hiding and shifting a few of the barrels around to hide him from view.

I know the two entrances of her home are constantly being watched so I used the barrels to climb on the roof of a house nearby, laying on it.

From this side I saw into Thora's room.

I patted down my body but I wore nothing I could throw before coming up with an idea and reaching for my earrings, it could work.

I sighed and crossed my arms under my chin as I laid on my stomach, waiting for the sun to set and it seemed to be delaying to so.

--------------------------------------------------

When it was finally dark enough for me and I could see Thora I grabbed an earring and threw it at the window before throwing the back of it.

As I prepared to reach for the second I saw her get up and look outside before opening the window and leaning out.

"Pssss." I said making her look over, I brought a finger in front of my mouth and crouched, it was right before the full moon so she could see me but that meant I need to be quick to not be spotted in what I plan to do.

I waved my hands, asking her to back away from the window.

Okay time to see if I can do this.

I held my hand up towards the sky, usually my wyvern fire comes to be right by my palm but I was thinking of...

I pulled my hand down and threw it upwards, only a small arrow-like whistle was heard before the flame manifested itself a good way higher in the sky.

I was in awe that it worked for a moment before taking the time to run and dive through her open window.

I quickly closed it and stood still, listening if I was heard or spotted but no yelling came about me from inside or outside while they worried about the sudden fire in the sky.

"We need to leave, now." I told her as I turned to face her. "The leader is planning to set out on the full moon's night and not stop the hunt until the nest is found along with your sister."

"I thought that it would end badly with us being followed constantly, they think we know where they are."

"Probably one of the reasons."

"I was already planing to try to join her in the following days but I think we must go tonight since you are already here."

"I was thinking the same honestly."

"Then follow me but stay silent." She carefully opened the door and we tiptoed out of the room to Renva's. "We'll need to get her a few things." She grabbed one of Renva's wyvern skulls and held it up towards me, there were leather straps pined into it with a black cloth pined to the inside.

I put it on my head and tied the leather as Thora did her thing, looking around, the vision was obscured a bit but the cloth was pulled thin enough to see out of it.

"When did she make a helmet out of this?" I asked.

"Not that long ago, I had helped her with the other, putting it on to show me. "I'd advise you to keep it on your head for now I think, in care they see us they won't see right away since it is still dark enough to not distinguish colors."

"With your leg peg-leg? We'll be recognized right away."

"Trust me."

"Your sister loved to tell me that."

"Well I am telling this to you too."

"I'll believe you... Got all you need?"

"Yeah, Renva's hip pouch with a few stuff she might need in it and this." She held up an older version of the saddle she pulled out from under Renva's bed. "The blue wyvern starts to trust me so if I could just put the saddle part on since she can fly by herself I could help me sister with the wyvern.... And Black would probably agree to carry you."

"You are thinking of leaving the island with Renva and the wyverns?" I realized her plans. "I.... Yeah probably the best option we have." I nodded sadly, I don't remember the home we come from like dad, I grew up here after our ship wrecked itself here so it was already hurting my heart to think about us leaving but facts piled on that it was the best option.

"Mhm."

"But why wouldn't I also need a saddle?"

"Black is big and probably won't throw you off?"

"Probably?"

"Look... Renva just kept this one as a spare."

"I get it." I chuckled. "I'll just use a piece of rope, with that leg of yours it is a better idea if you have the saddle anyway."

"Well lets go."

And here we thought we got away with not being found out...

We were so wrong.
