"Shes here," Luke told North as he entered the kitchen of the diner and handed his brother the order.
"She is?" North asked and Luke nodded. "Ill get started on her order." North looked at the order and shook his head, "Same thing again?"
"Yep," Luke nodded grabbing the premade salad and adding some cucumbers and black olives to it. "Dont forget no tomatoes."
"I know," North said as he made the club sandwich and added a pickle to the side. "Dont forget she likes Italian dressing no ranch."
"Got it," Luke said grabbing the dressing and the plate. "Here you go Cupcake," Luke smiled setting the plates in front of the girl the whole team had a crush on and she had no idea.
"Oh hi Lucian," Jennifer smiled softly as she placed the bookmarker in the book she was reading. "Oh this looks perfect, thank you."
"You are very welcome," Luke smiled. "Are you on your lunch break?"
"Yep," Jennifer nodded softly. "You working by yourself today?"
Luke shook his head, "North is in the back."
"Well tell him I said thank you please," She said softly and Luke nodded.
"Enjoy Cupcake," Luke said walking off when North called that another order was ready.
Jennifer grabbed her book and began reading again while she ate her lunch. When she was done she cleaned up her area and grabbed her bag so she could go pay. "All done Baby?" North asked coming out of the back.
"Oh wow, you snuck up on me," Jennifer said grabbing her chest.
"Sorry Baby," North smiled.
"Anyway, yeah, it was delicious as usual, thank you North," Jennifer smiled softly.
"Youre welcome Baby," North said as they walked over to the cash register. "You going back to work?"
"Yeah," She sighed. "Until closing," she admitted. She paid and handed him a tip for both him and Luke. "Bye Guys, see whoever is here tomorrow most likely," She waved as she slipped her headphones on and started walking to her job at the library down the street.
North grabbed his phone and sent out a group message before heading back to the back and started on the next order he had.
Jennifer finished restocking the books that she had checked back in and checked the aisles to make sure there was no one in the library. She shut everything down and sent a message to her boss that she was closing up. She locked the building and just as she was about to slip her headphones on she heard someone call her name.
She turned around and beamed as Max came running toward her with Kota following close behind. "Hi Max, are you out for a late night walk?" she asked kneeling down to hug the dog.
"Yeah, you just now getting off work?" Kota asked and Jennifer nodded.
"Yeah," she admitted standing back up.
"You want to go to the diner and grab a late dinner with us? My treat of course," Kota asked and Jennifer shrugged.
"Sure why not? Then I dont have to cook," Jennifer giggled and took Maxs leash from Kota.
"Sounds perfect," Kota chuckled as he followed beside her. "I see I got replaced Max."
Max barked and Jennifer burst out laughing, "Yep, hes mine now."
"Guess that means you have to move in with us since all his stuff is at our place," Kota chuckled as they entered the diner.
"Oh dont tempt me like that," Jennifer groaned, "Your place is simply amazing! I would move in there in a heartbeat."
"Just let us know when and well come pack up your stuff, Doll," Axel said as he came over to Kota and Jennifer. "Water to drink?"
"Yep and yall couldnt handle me," Jennifer chuckled.
"I seriously fucking doubt that, Trouble," Gabriel chuckled coming in from the back. "Let me know when you want me to touch up that fucking blue hair of yours and Ill make sure Im clear for the fucking day."
"Okay, thanks Gabriel, Ill be good for another week or so then Ill be ready," Jennifer said as she pulled her indigo blue hair out of her eyes. "I think Ill just have a salad for dinner."
"Really? Thats all?" Kota asked and she nodded.
"Im not that hungry," She admitted. "More tired than anything."
"Ill walk you home once youre done," Kota said after telling Axel what he wanted to eat.
"Im good thanks though," Jennifer shook her head. Her phone rang and she paled at the number. "Excuse me," She whispered as she slid out of the booth and headed outside. She didnt see someone waiting in the shadows at the corner. "Hello? Oh yeah, Im almost done closing. No, I know to come straight home. I know, Im sorry its taking so long, there were just a lot of books dropped in that I have to check back in. Yeah I got my paycheck today. Yes Sir I know you get it. Yes Sir Im coming straight home once Im done. Yes Sir I will call you as soon as Im done. Yes Sir." She hung up and took a shaky breath than ran her fingers through her hair. She slid down and closed her eyes. She took another deep breath and slowly let it out. She stood and shook her hands. She went back inside and smiled softly. "Hey sorry but something came up, I got to go. Just give my salad to North please. I really have to go. Ill talk to you later. Bye Max," She smiled and kissed his head then left.
"What was that about?" Kota asked Owen as he sat in her spot after she left.
"She received a very upsetting phone call," Owen said staring out the window. "Call everyone, you are not going to like what I recorded."
