Best Friends

Chapter 12

Jennifer woke up and realized her headache was gone. She debated on whether or not she should remove the pacifier but realized she actually liked how it felt in her mouth. She thought about what Sean and Silas said and decided she would try and be brave and see how the rest would react to it. She looked down and saw that Sean was asleep. She knew he worked really hard saving people so she wanted him to sleep as much as he could. She didn't want to stay in bed though. She grabbed Spyro for extra courage and got out of bed.

She left the room and realized the hallway was dark. She got scared and went to the next room to see who she could find. Owen looked up from his desk and gave her the special smile she knew was just for her. "Hi Darling, did you have a good nap?" he asked coming over to her. She raised her hands and he nodded. "Do you want up?" she nodded and he picked her up. "I see you still have your binky in, do you like it?" She nodded again. "Can we not talk today?" She shook her head and looked down. "Don't be sad Darling, it's okay you can't talk. We will just stay with yes or no answers okay?" She nodded and laid her head down, she felt so much better being with him. "Is Dr. Green still sleeping?" She nodded again. "Did you need some cuddles?" She nodded then shook her head. "Do you want something else and cuddles?" She nodded again then pointed out to the hallway. "Okay let's go figure out what you want." He carried her out to the hallway and she shrank into him some more. "Oh are we scared of the dark?" She tightened her grip on him and he flicked the switch to make the dark go away. "There we go Darling, no more scary."

"What is going on?" Axel asked coming up the stairs. "Hi Doll," he smiled at her.

"Someone has woken up from nap and is wanting something," Owen said patting her back. "We still can't talk so it's yes or no questions for now."

"Okay," Axel smiled at her. "Are we wanting a snack?" She shook her head. "Are we wanting some juice in our dragon cuppy?" She nodded and he smiled. "Okay I will go make that while Mr. B takes you to the living room." She smiled and nodded.

Owen sat her down on the floor and she pulled on his leg. "Give me just a moment Darling then I will pick you back up, I promise." She stopped and watched him put something on the TV. The Dragons Tales theme song came on and she smiled then started watching it. Owen picked her up and sat her on the couch beside him. She crawled over into his lap and held Spyro closely while laying her head on his chest. She smiled when Axel handed her her dragon cuppy. She knew she should feel childish but she honestly feel complete and right being like this. She felt like it was okay to be this way in front of her best friends. So far they haven't seemed like it was a bother so she wasn't going to stress over it.

"Oh Dragon Tales I love this show," Luke said coming into the living room and plopping down beside her.

She crawled over to Luke's lap and laid her head on his shoulder. "Hi Cupcake," he smiled as he held her. "Did this show just start?" she nodded and he smiled. "Great I haven't missed anything then."

After a few episodes Marc came into the room, "Time to eat," he said.

"Come on Cupcake, let's go see what we're having to eat," Luke smiled and she wrapped her arms around his neck.

"Potty first Pookie," Sean said yawning as he came down the stairs. Luke passed her over to Sean but she handed Luke Spyro first. Sean came out a few minutes later and carried her to the kitchen. "Oh look Pookie, hot dogs and French fries. That looks yummy."

"Look Baby, Gabe found you a dragon plate to use," North smiled at her and she clapped her hands. She made grabby hands for Gabe and he chuckled then sat her in his lap.

"I'm glad you like it Trouble," He smiled at her as he cut up the hotdog for her since she didn't really like using silverware. "You have to take the goddamn pacifier out of your mouth to eat, Trouble." She whimpered but let it fall into her lap. "You can fucking have it back when it's bedtime."

She picked up a french fry and started eating it. "Eat hot dog too Kitten," Raven said and she nodded.

After dinner Corey carried her to the sink soshe could wash her hands. "Let's go play Sweetheart," he said as he carried herinto the living room. He pulled out the blocks and they started buildingtogether. The rest of the team smiled as they watched Corey and Jennifer buildthen she would have Spyro knock down the blocks so they could build all overagain.
