Better Than You

I open my eyes, and the first thing I see is the ring. I for sure thought I dreamed everything that happened last night. A night full of movies and watching the sunset with the person I love the most in this world. Can it get any better? I call Meagan to tell her all about last night.

"Hey girl, guess what?"

"Hey, what you so happy for?"

"I'm getting married!!!!"

"What? When did this happen?"

"Last night. You know we had a date set up, he had the roof covered in hanging lights and candles leading the way to a blanket set up with blankets and pillows all over it. Then there was the projector, he played all of my favorite movies. Then on top of that, he had a picnic basket full of my favorite foods, and he went behind a bush and grabbed a blender so I could eat it now that I've got this feeding tube. Plus on top of all of that, he proposed. I got two diamonds in one night. Before we went to the roof he gave me a necklace."

"Girl, you living in a real life fairy tale. I wish I was that lucky. You'll definitely have to talk about this at our meeting tonight. I can't wait to see Rachel's face."

"Oh boy, that's gonna be amazing. First thing first though, will you be my Maid of Honor?"

All teary eyed she said, "Really you want it to be me? You just made my day."

"Of course, I want it to be you. You're my best friend."

After we got done discussing everything that had just happened, I start getting ready for the meeting. I make my way to the meeting. We sit in a really really big and separated circle. Six feet between each person. When it's your turn to talk you stand up on this cement block and start saying everything you want to, and when you're done you return to your seat and then it goes around the circle everyone getting a turn that wants one. When it gets to me I stand up and walk over to the huge cement block.

"Hey, um, where to begin. Last night I went on a date with my boyfriend, Andrew. He had lights hung up on the roof and there were candles lighting the path to a little blanket set up with pillows and blankets all over it. He also had a projector set up and he played all of my favorite movies on it. He went and grabbed this picnic basket and brought it over, and it had all of my favorite foods in it, then he walked over and got a blender from behind a bush. He blended up all of my food so I could eat it with my feeding tube. Then we started talking and he got on one knee and asked me to marry him, so now...." I lift my hand and show the ring. "I'm getting married!!!!"

I look around and everyone seems so happy for me except one person. I'm getting married before Rachel. She doesn't seem to like that. She stands up....

"But I'm supposed to get married before any of y'all. I mean look at me I'm so much better...."

I cut her off, "But look who has the ring."

"But but....."

"No buts. Plus this is a positive environment. If you don't have anything nice to say sit down, and let's keep going. Who's next?"

The look on her face was priceless. I would pay to see that again. Luckily, I don't have to. Meagan's next. She stands up and starts talking about how I asked her to be the maid of honor. As she's talking about it I start busting out laughing. Rachel looks like someone just stole her spotlight. Her spotlight might only be made by her, but she still doesn't like it. I'm loving it though. She's always been mean to us, so it's time she feels a little bit of well deserved pain at not being the best and not being first. I'm not one to bully anybody, but I can't say I don't find it funny. I'm not one to lie, so I have to admit when I think something is funny.
