Scene 17 | | Leaves from the vine, falling so slow,I closed my eyes tightly, praying everything would go away. That I would be in the warm and bright arms of my mother and father. Tears brimmed as a cry threatened to escape my mouth. Lips trembling and hands shaking. Opening them, I saw a leaf falling off the branch. Slowly. It looked peaceful....almost, as if it knew it was gonna fall. I didn't pluck it.
It was ready on its own.
Jenesis furrowed her brows at the darkening sky, her face slightly scrunched up with so many emotions. There laid Imani beside her in a sleeping bag. Jenesis had personally insisted that she would use it this night, considering that she seemed to be incredibly cold right now. They almost had a whole argument from who would take the sleeping bag. Of course it died down when they started eating some jerky, and leftover meat from the fat animal they had cooked. It was running out, but there was enough for two, or three more days.
—- They were good as far as they could tell." Yo E, what's up with you right now?" Jenesis asked with a genuine worried look on her face.
She glanced down at her shivering ally who was tucked away in a sleeping bag. Why the hell was Imani shivering so damn much? It wasn't even cold in the arena this night. Maybe it's her adaptation, but Jenesis could feel nothing. She didn't get where Imani was feeling the sudden cold from. Jenesis had no protection, and she highly doubted the Capital gave her a stronger jacket. So how was Imani shivering when she was at least neck down buried into the heating sleeping bag?
Jenesis did not understand at all.
" N-n-nothing. I t-told you t-that I would g-g-et warmer." She dismissed.
Jenesis almost wanted to scream or cuss out Imani from her obvious lie. But she avoided doing so since she didn't want to cause any unwanted attention. She liked Imani, so dearly as a friend.... But does she hear herself!?
Sis can't even complete a sentence without stammering and shivering too.
" Yeah and you said that 4 hours ago too," Jenesis couldn't help the raise in her voice as she worriedly spoke to Imani. Only to see her roll her eyes with her typical attitude, turning her head away from Jen in the sleeping bag. She was laid on her back — her expressions were obvious.
Jenesis could understand the attitude.
She wasn't her mom yeah, but this..... This — wasn't normal." You're in a full on sleeping bag E, what's wrong with you? This is actually concerning!" She fixed her posture as she placed her full attention on Imani's form. Staring down at her ally expectantly.
