Tabitha walked through the courtyard. Trial rankings would be out soon.
I'm going to be in that trial, no matter what.
She saw a group of Nevers gathered around someone.
It's probably that idiotic Reader.
She shoved her way through the crowd and saw him.
"With Marcus here, we will definitely win this time." A Nevergirl said.
"No, with me, we will win. How can an ugly little Reader be better than me? Descendant of Scar, raised by the Evil Queen herself, and, even if I didn't have famous relatives, still incredibly powerful? Oh, right. They can't. All of you are pathetic." Seri said, frustrated at having to waste her time to put these losers in their place.
"Or me, the daughter of Maleficent" Tabitha replied. "You think that reader will do anything? I could display my evil talent's, if you would like"
The girl cowered back, running to Marcus. Tabitha chuckled. It was fun to scare people
"Oh really huh?" Marcus said turning to Tabitha. "And you think you can beat me?"
"I don't think I can beat you. I know I can" Tabitha snapped back. Her hands tingled by the idea of a fight.
"Huh! I wanna see this. You know who you remind me of? That baby of a villain? Maleficent?" he said as he tried to get in her head.
Tabitha smirked. He would learn, yes, he would learn. She couldn't wait for her plan to finally get into action.
"How come the little Reader isn't taking the first move? Scared that big, bad, Tabitha is going to kill you? Cause she won't hesitate" Tabitha taunted. "And besides, even if Maleficent was a baby you would be more of a baby than her. Way more."
Marcus smirked at her.
Tabitha sighed, pretending to be unhappy. "If you insist...." A shadow whipped at Marcus's feet, tripping him.
Marcus looked at the shadow and his eye changed color. He stared at it for another minute or so before it flew away wailing like a baby.
"Well," Tabitha said smiling, "If you're just going to put away my attacks, might as well make it simple." Another group of shadows picked Marcus up, and threw him into the middle of the blue forest before he could try to scare them away. "Hmph. That was easy."
"Not so fast." He stood up and concentrated, thinking about Tabitha. His eyes turned grey and suddenly Tabitha was feeling confused and dazed. He made her bring the shadows back and pick him up. When he arrived he said, "Can't get rid of me that easy."
"Oh, please. This is painful to watch." Seri said with an eye roll. "Just ignore him, Tabby." She turned away and laid a piece of black silk fabric over a nearby stump before sitting down. She then started sipping her signature drink (plum juice mixed with some blood) from a glass vial.
"What do you think your chances are for getting into the trial?" Seri asked, wiping her mouth with her arm.
"I'm getting in, whether they like it or not." Tabitha replied, grabbing a spoon and also drinking out of Seri's cup.
"Where did he get that from? He's a Reader, can they have powers?" Seri questioned.
Tabitha didn't say anything. She was already planning on how to get him with them.
"Tabitha? Tabitha!" Seri yelled.
"What?" Tabitha growled.
"What are you thinking of?" Seri questioned.
