Teetering precariously, he swung in through the closest window and landed with a muted thud. He listened for a moment, the only sounds coming from the beeping and whirring of machines in the cramped room.
Hm, who would've thought the soul society had technology as refined as this, thought the Quincy as he prowled through the machines and towards the door. With his spiritual pressure completely supressed, he was certain he could make it through this place practically unseen.
As softly as he could manage, his long fingers twisted the knob to the right slowly and exercising the most caution he could, peered out into the long hallway.
It was completely deserted. Just as he suspected.
Stealthily, he moved down the hall and his insides were knotted with anticipation. If the enemy heard him, there would be no doubt it'd be a bloody battle. But for the moment, it would seem the enemy wasn't anywhere to be seen.
And that's where the Quincy would learn just because the enemy wasn't visible, doesn't mean he wasn't around.
Kurotsuchi cackled as his camoflauge cloaked his very presence from his intruder. Was his eyes decieving him? A Quincy? The glove he wore certainly matched the description of one he had in his many online files. But he was so young.. There was no way a mere child could wield such a power.
"Sneaking into someone else's barracks is illegal unless given the proper consent." Kurotsuchi drawled as he revealed himself, amber irises glinting with glee. How could he contain himself when a live specimen just decides to waltz right into his lab? It was as if luck was on his side for once.
The Quincy started, turning towards the man while adjusting his glasses.
"It would seem you were better at masking your presence then I perceived earlier." He retorted coolly, his gloved hand curling into a fist. "I should've expected as much from a Captain."
Kurotsuchi smirked before pointing his long nailed middle finger at the boy.
"From what I've collected, I suspect you're a Quincy."
"That's correct. I am a Quincy."
Kurotsuchi could not hide it any longer and erupted into a fit of maniacal laughter.
"Excellent! How would you feel becoming my test subject, boy? I'm afraid the last subject I had wasn't in as prestine condition as you so he wasn't of much use. The bloody fool kept screaming the name of his beloved student."
The Quincy summoned his bow, bristling with a sudden hot anger that engulfed his entire being. This...man... this monster. Had he no remorse for those who's life he had taken? Uryu tried to keep himself in check, but his free hand was shaking.. No... itching to aim an arrow at this creature's vile heart.
"Well, I can't remember his name.. It's as though once I dissect a specimen, I lose all interest in them." Kurotsuchi rambled on, rubbing his chin as he thought it over.
"But the new specimen I've discovered is fascinating. A human girl with the healing properties that far proceeds even Captain of Squad 4's Retsu Unohana.. I can't wait to dissect her as well." He rubbed his hands together happily, looking to the silent boy.
The Quincy had his bow drawn, arrow threaded taut through the string. Rage danced behind his spectacle glazed sapphire eyes, his voice coming out as a snarl.
"You will keep your filthy hands off of her!"
He then released it, aiming it straight for the crazed scientist. The man drew his sword and sliced right through the arrow, pointing the tip at the furious boy.
"Want to see the last of your kind I dissected? There is nothing you can do that I haven't seen, boy."
Mayuri vanished from sight, only to reappear behind the Quincy boy, who fell to his knees as a slice appeared in his stolen shinigami uniform and blood spurted out.
"Ashisoji Jizo's quite a magnificent sword, wouldn't you say? It disables all motor functions it cuts but it leaves all the pain sensors intact.."
Kurotsuchi pulled out a wallet sized photo of the last Quincy specimen and tossed it to the paralyzed boy now slumped against the wall.
"Maybe you should keep this, as it is the last momento of your kind you will ever see before I dissect you and your pretty little friend.."
Pain flooded his body like a poison, his blow vaporizing as he split the uniform to bandage his shoulder up. The slice was deep, and it was incredibly painful. His eyes moved to look over the small picture, familiarity and shock taking over him briefly..
Sen....sei... Sensei! Grandfather!
Kurotsuchi's eyes widened as the boy's spirit energy skyrocketed explosively, unable to believe he could stand let alone have his hand that was deemed useless now working once more. His fierce expression didn't so much as waver as the young Quincy pointed the loaded ratii arrow at him.
"Do you want to know the name you can't remember?!" The Quincy roared, pain evident in his voice.
"It was Ishida.. Uryu Ishida. And that man was Soken Ishida, he was my sensei.. Along with my grandfather!"
His spiritual pressure climbed even higher, wind swirling viciously into the building. The scientist grinned devilishly. The boy's pride was wounded with that little bit of information. Hopefully, he'd still keep the boy in one piece so he could perform his tests..
