The paper was folded neatly on the Quincy's lap, a hint of a worn smile framing his thin lips. In a way, that was a way to finalize everything before his untimely, misfortunate end. It was strange, thinking about how he won't be attending college or worrying over acne outbreaks. It was almost a soothing but sad prospect.
The door flung open with a loud clang, the metal door handle smashing into the wall as a lab coat clad figure appeared in Uryu's view, tawny eyes glowing with excitement before the whole shape of the Squad 12 Captain came into focus.
"Lovely morning for an experiment, don't you think?" The captain replied nonchalantly, his eyes rotating around the room, Uryu's blank expression, and finally into his coat picket where he withdrew a syringe containing a silvery liquid. Uryu swallowed, nervous about the cheeriness the captain was emitting. He knew it couldn't be good.
"I first have a request to make before you kill me." Uryu spoke, his voice so soft Mayuri wasn't sure he caught it all.
Mayuri snorted.
"And who are you to ask me something? I don't think you're in any position to be doing anything but holding your tongue, Quincy."
Uryu's eyes lifted to glare spitefully at the man, his voice darkening.
"Its a note to my friends to tell them to return without me."
Mayuri looked at him, almost shocked by the words that Uryu just uttered. Was he that insane that he'd rather die then let anyone come to his aid? Whatever it was, the man couldn't help but feel impressed at the boy's courage.
"How nobly stupid of you. Sacrificing your life to save them.. It's pathetic beyond all logic." He bent down and slid the syringe into Uryu's arm, pushing its contents into the unwilling victim.
Uryu gritted his teeth as he felt the needle plunge into his skin, the sharp pain of it causing him to stiffen. It hurt, way more then it should, and it felt like it was...spreading... Mayuri watched, his monstrous grin stretched over his face.
Uryu was finding it hard to see, or even breathe. With every breath, it felt as though the vile liquid was spreading out its tyrannical reach further and setting his insides ablaze. His hands clamped the sides of his bed, a deafening scream ripping from his throat.
Mayuri cackled, amused at the sight. Soon, he'd be able to control the boy. It was exciting.. Turning a ryoka against his own and letting them decimate the other until there was nothing left of them but bloodied pulps.
Uryu's retinas widened and constricted rapidly, the light in them fading and instead, they appeared black rather then blue, his arms trying to break through his restraints with no success.
"Stay put, idiot." Snapped the Captain, and Uryu stopped struggling, leaning back onto the bed and closing his eyes.
"My apologies, Master Mayuri. " He stated in a dull tone, his emotionless face drained of all color. The captain unlocked his shackles and whispered in the boys ear.
"Bring me your friend's hearts on a silver platter and do not stop until they're eliminated. "
Internally, Uryu's conscious screamed in defiance. Externally, he got to his feet and left the room without another word.
He would eliminate them all, and then the boy would be back to beg for his death.. It was perfect.
Uryu's feet moved without a trace of hesitation, bursting through door after door until he reached outside. He blinked, the sunlight momentarily dazing him before he leapt up onto the rooftops, his pace quickening to a run as he felt the faint signatures of ratii from his friends. He'd start with the weakest and move to the strongest, seeing as it would be easier and would cause less of a gap in his abilities.
