Y/n's POV
Hagrid led me to Headmaster, who told me to wait for the sorting ceremony of the first years to complete. Meanwhile I let my eyes wander around, capturing all the beautiful illuminating candles in the ceiling. Of course, it was bewitched. I turned my attention to all the other Professors, among whom I spotted Remus. He gave me a soft smile, which I returned back. He didn't tell me he was attending Hogwarts, did he? All the first years soon get sorted. Professor Dumbledore raised himself up, walking to the podium, "We have a new student at Hogwarts. Please welcome Miss. Y/n Black. She'll be starting from 3rd year." The faces turned grim. Certainly, I should've expected this. Professor McGonagall, as I guessed, called me up, "Miss Y/n Black." I took a deep breath and sat down, before the Sorting Hat was placed above my head. Of course, the solemn faces toned down my excitement to be here, but that was before my eyes met Harry, whose smile sent a small flicker of hope... that maybe, just maybe, it wouldn't be that bad. Almost everyone clapped.

Gryffindor, please Gryffindor... Suddenly a voice emerged, which almost caught me off-guard. It was the Sorting Hat speaking, "Gryffindor huh? I see bravery and chivalry.. but you are creative and witty. You could do great in Ravenclaw, dear."
"No... Gryffindor please."

Come on, the sorting hat takes people's wishes into account, doesn't it?

"Hmm... well..." the sorting hat pondered silently, as the silence stretched on, "better be... GRYFFINDOR!"

A wide grin spread across my face, as the hat was taken off my head, the Gryffindor table erupting into loudest of applause. I climbed down, and advanced towards the Gryffindor table. I took a seat beside Hermione. The trio looked happy, and each one of them took turns to congratulate me. Dumbledore had already began talking about dementors and Sirius Blac- I mean my dad. Don't know why everyone accused him of having murdering someone or he following Harry to kill him. It doesn't make much sense if I consider what Remus told me.

"Pottah!" The voice distracted my thoughts. Why is it oddly familiar? "Pottah!" Harry and Ron turned back, giving way to my sight to see who it was. The same blonde I met on the train. "Is it true that you fainted?" he mocked, scoffing, "I mean you actually fainted?"
Ron replied something to him, turning Harry back around, but I didn't hear as I was engaged talking to Mione, "Who is that?"
"Malfoy," Hermione said exasperatedly, "Draco Malfoy. Bullying is practically his habit, especially us. I don't think you should be friends with him."
"Oh. I won't. His guts make me want to punch his face."
"Have you met him?" Mione asked.
"Yeah. I met him while I was finding compartments."

Mione turned to Harry, "don't pay heed to that bastard."

Then Malfoy said something which enraged me, "Look, we have a new member here. Good luck having a funtime here, murderer's daughter."

I clenched my fists, "One more time, then I'll be taken criminal charged for murdering you."

"Yeah. Right. What else can I expect from you? The infamous Sirius Black certainly passed down his vile qualities on to you."

I rolled my eyes, before I could reply, Harry intervened, "Malfoy, you certainly love digging into people's life, don't you? Like for Merlin's sake, that isn't going to take you anywhere."

"Oh, defending her now, are you? Well done, Pottah, I'm impressed."

I smiled sarcastically, replying back, "I'm impressed," I started, my tone mimicking his, "by how pathetic you are. I mean who keeps their self-respect at risk- Oh, sorry, I forgot, you don't have it."

Malfoy scoffed, trying to come up with a better reply, but failed miserably. He shook his head and turned back around.

The next thing I did was I pay attention to Professor Dumbledore 'cause he announced the new teachers of Defence Against the Dark Arts and Care of Magical Creatures. I was glad knowing that I'd be taught my favourite subject by my own godfather.

Professor Dumbledore then announced everyone to go back to their common rooms.

I finished eating as quick I could before following the trio to the Gryffindor tower. A part of me was nervous, my heart thumping loudly inside. How am I supposed to know the locations and whereabouts in this huge castle? The least I could do was get lost somewhere.

"We'll make sure you don't feel left out," Ron remarked, as he pushed through the crowd joining us. Hermione nodded, "you see, you'll soon start feeling at home." They seemed to know how nervous I was feeling. I nodded appreciatively.

"Woah," I marvelled at the moving flight of stairs. It came to a halt, and I put my foot forward on the first step, but then it started moving again. Before I knew, Harry pulled me back by my arm, "you should wait for a few seconds after they've come to a stop, because sometimes, they start moving again."

"Oh! Thanks for telling me that."

"Anytime," he shrugged, his lips turning upwards into a soft smile. The fleet of stairs came to stop again, and we waited for few seconds.

"Come on," Harry tugged at my arm, and I stepped forward. Hermione and Ron followed us, while some other students already climbed up to the portrait door.

We made it to the door, in a few passing moments. "Here listen, she won't let me in," a boy with Irish accent whined, pointing at the lady from the portrait. Well, technically, she was singing at the top of her lungs. And when someone interrupted her, she raised her hand, reducing them to silence.

"Fortuna Major," Harry repeated the password, pressing.

"Wait, wait, listen to this one," she cleared her throat, and began it all over again, compelling us to press our hands to our ears.

"For the sake of Merlin, stop it!" I exclaimed.

She slammed the glass behind at the wall, making it crash, and then came to a stop. "Amazing, just like my voice. I scoffed, while the rest of us watched her in disbelief.

"Fortuna Major," Harry pressed again.

"Yes, alright. Go in."

"Thank you!" he replied in a tone of sarcasm.

"She can't even sing!" Harry and Seamus whined in unison, making me, Hermione and Ron chuckle, who were following them behind.

Once we were inside, Hermione introduced me to everyone. There was Neville, Ginny, Seamus, Dean, Parvati, Lavender and quite some other people. Everyone went to bed, given how exhausted we were.

Classes started the other day except Care of Magical Creatures and Defence Against the Dark Arts. It took me a good few days to adjust to the habitat, and meanwhile, I observed that slowly people had started trusting me. I spent more time with the trio, and all of us grew quite close to each other.
