-Laeilwyn's Perspective-
I found Brynjolf waiting for me at the city gates. It was dark, very late in the evening. Everyone was in the Mare or had retired to their houses. Only the guards were out patrolling the streets.
"I saw that you know." Brynjolf said.
"Saw what?" I asked innocently.
"Her necklace. It's in your bag isn't it?" He asked, raising his eyebrows.
I nodded my head at the guards so they could open the gates for us. The massive wooden doors creaked and groaned under their own weight. "She won't miss it. She's quite wealthy."
"How could you tell?" Brynjolf questioned.
"How could you not? I thought you were in the middle of a con when I walked up. Turns out you were just getting yourself into trouble, again." I pointed out.
"I could have handled her on my own!" Brynjolf said defensively.
"Mmmhmm. Tell me, what was her name again?"
Brynjolf seemed to draw a blank. "Wait! I remember now. It was Oristen. Oristen the Cautious."
I laughed at him. "Not even close Bryn! How many women have you slept with? Is it too many to count now?"
"What can I say? My charm must be intoxicating. Is it intoxicating to you, Elle?"
Again, I laughed. "More like nauseating. My god, you've had too much to drink."
"Have not!" He declared, stumbling on the mild incline of the path. I shook my head. We reached the carriage and hopped in the back. Sigaar grumbled a bit at having to travel at night, but we were to make good time and arrive back at Riften by mid-morning tomorrow.
As we were passing Pelagia Farm, Brynjolf leaned over and asked me, "So, what was her name?"
I rolled my eyes. I reached into my satchel and tossed him the necklace. "Check out the back."
He flipped the gold necklace over and read the last name inscribed on the back side. "Wolf-Sayer? I don't remem- wait...."
I shook my head as I watched Brynjolf struggle with her name. It was scandalizing how easily Brynjolf could work his little game on the Nord women. I don't understand how they could fall for such a basic game he played with them. I reached into my satchel and pulled out all the things I nicked from the city to sell for a little extra coin. I counted a grand total of 70 septims, two silver rings, and a odd looking, gold bottle I found in the meadery office.
"Ever seen one of these?" I said, holding the strange device up for Brynjolf to see.
"That's a Honningbrew decanter. Delvin will buy that off of you, he's been looking for that for ages!"
"Excellent. I could use the coin." I said, gently placing the item in my satchel.
"When we get back, I'll make sure to tell Mercer of the excellent work you did." Brynjolf said, fiddling with Wolf-Sayer's necklace.
"You should tell him I want double for danger pay." I said, as seriously as I could.
Brynjolf outright laughed at the idea. "Oh by the Eight Elle," he said, wiping his tears of laughter away. "You're a funny lass. Danger pay. If we paid all our thieves 'danger pay' we'd never have any profits!"
"Hilarious. Let me tell you what happened when I went to poison the Skeever nest. Turns out there's a crazy man living down there, Hamelyn. Nasty mage. Turned all the skeevers and frostbite spiders into quite the nasty bunch, venom fanged and all."
