HYDRA Base, Washington D.C

"Checkmate." I topple the soldier's king on our make-do chess board, which consists of a carving of checks in the floor and several odd trinkets and such that I've scavenged from missions.

"Again? Seriously?" he leans his head back on the mattress of the cot.

"My talent astounds me too, don't worry."

I must have been here for years at this point, I couldn't tell you how many though. It's not so bad once you look past the genocide and slight human trafficking of me. The soldier makes good company- mostly. Around once every couple of months, he's put through the mind control again and if he manages to resist, he's put in the cryofreeze for a week or two. Each time he's mind-controlled, he forgets me, but the more time we spend together, the more he remembers of me, and given that we live in a small room together, he always manages to remember. He always comes back to me.

He hasn't been brainwashed for a while as of right now and we haven't been sent out on a mission for a few weeks. That is until the door bursts open and numerous guards march in, surrounding us with guns raised.

Discreetly, I slide the chess set under the cot and we both stand up with our hands behind our heads. They shove us forward and roughly guide us down numerous corridors until we're brought into Mr Pierce's office.

"Julya, Soldier, come in, take a seat." he beckons us in. We both walk inside and sit in his two leather armchairs, "I've got a mission for the both of you," he slides a manilla file across the desk, "an old friend of mine."

I open the folder and read the name, "Nicholas Fury?"

"He's getting in the way of HYDRA's interests, I need him gone, ASAP."

I scan over the words, "Got it, when do we go?"

"Right now." he declares, "He knows that he's in danger and he won't stay in one place for long. We need to get him whilst we're aware of his location."
