HYDRA Base, Washington D.C

Pierce is going to murder me.

I'm a dead woman walking. That has to be why he called us here. The Soldier is unexpendable but me... I'm just some Widow with a bad attitude. He called us here so he could order the Soldier to kill me. We both know it.

I should correct myself then, I suppose.

Pierce isn't going to murder me. The Soldier is going to murder me.

The fridge door opens illuminating the dark kitchen slightly, though the two of us sit in the shadowy corner, invisible to the unsuspecting eye. Pierce takes the carton of milk and places it down on the counter, noticing our presence.

His house is huge, though I'd expect nothing less from a man of his stature. The funny thing is, it reminds me so much of the Starks' mansion back in Malibu. Just like theirs was, it's beautiful and lavishly decorated but empty and soulless.

"I'm going to go, Mr Pierce." a woman with a tinge of a foreign accent calls out from another room, "You need anything before I leave?"

"No. Uh, it's fine, Renata, you can go home," he tells her, not taking his eyes off us.

"Okay. Night-night!" she yells happily, before the sound of a door closing echoes around the house.

"Good night." he says, less enthusiastically, "Want some milk?"

I stand up and take a couple of steps forward, "We did what you asked, why call us here?"

"Because you took too long getting your job done. Now, there are three more targets, who Fury told about HYDRA. They're all on the run now, all highly trained, two of them are enhanced. You two are getting too friendly." he glances over my shoulder at the soldier, "Come to think of it, he hasn't been wiped for a long time."

"No." I butt in quickly, "No, we'll eliminate them."

"You have ten hours."

"Two enhanced and we don't even have a day?" I scoff, "You've got to be kidding."

He walks right up to me and looks down on me, "Watch how you speak. You need to remember who I am and what I could do to you." I stop speaking, knowing when it's best not to. Whilst the Soldier frequently reminds me that, for a Widow, I talk far more than I ought to, I still know when it's best to shut it (now being one of those times).  "The timetable has moved. Our window is limited. Three targets, Level Six. They already cost me Zola. I want confirmed death in ten hours."

"Sorry, Mr Pierce, I... I forgot my phone." his maid from before, Renata, if I recall correctly, stammers, gawping at Bucky and me and the words she just heard leave Pierce's mouth.

"Renata," he sighs, "I wish you would have knocked."

He picks up the gun, which was laid on the table, and shoots her straight through the stomach, the shot echoing throughout the large house. Then, he turns back to us, with that same remorseless expression that I've seen on my own face so many times when I've looked in the mirror.

I knew Pierce was a dangerous man and, whilst I've never seen him get his own hands dirty, it's no secret that many of the hits I've carried out have been for him. So, now seeing him pull a trigger all by himself doesn't even cause me to flinch.

"Who are the targets?" I ask, glancing nonchalantly at the lifeless body.

"I'll send the files over." he locks eyes with me, "I want all of them dead within ten hours or the Soldier goes in the freeze," he says the words that he knows will hurt me more than anything, before locking eyes with the soldier and saying the words that'll hurt him more than anything, "and she dies."
