December 31st 1999
Bern, Switzerland

Aria and I sit perched on the bar, playing what must be our seventieth game of rock, paper, scissors. Alissa went to bed a while ago because she's a baby, but Aria and I want to stay up for the new year.

Aria slaps her hands down on her thighs and turns to Tony, "Dad, I'm cold.", she whines.

He tears his gaze from tonight's prey and looks at her, "You should've brought a jacket then."

"Can I wear yours? You've got a scarf on too."

"No.", he snaps.

"But-", she begins to protest but is quickly shut down as he fakes zipping her lips sealed.

He, tonight's catch, Dad, and Mom are all drunk. He's in his worst mode- mean Tony- and Dad's in his worst mode- mean Dad. Not a great way to start a new millennium, in all honesty.

"Here, sweetheart, have mine.", Mom says, being her usual, ever-lovely self.

She hands Aria her black jacket, so she's just in her red mini-dress. Dad eyes her figure and slips his hands around her waist, pulling her in close, "Baby, I think we should get out of here.", he smirks.

"Ew, Dad.", I grimace.

Happy turns around to face the adults, "Half an hour 'till the ball drops."

"Ugh, can we just go inside?", Aria groans, looking to her father, who's too drunk to pay her any mind.

"Yes! Going back to the rooms, great idea!", Tony grins, eyeing up the woman.

"Tony Stark? Great speech, man!", some random guy exclaims.

"Debatable.", I whisper to Aria.

"Yeah, it was just a lot of inaudible blabbering with some science mumbo-jumbo sprinkled in.", she agrees.
