Y/n sobbed. Draco held her tightly against him as he muttered sweet things to her.
"Darling you're strong, you will manage. We will manage" he whispered making her cry even more.
"Nothing will happen, I will do that mission tomorrow and we will be free, we will run away, search for potter and his friends." he whispered, brushing her hair out of her face with his fingers and she hiccupped"You promise?" "i promise"
*
Empty promises. That's all they would ever be, because draco didn't know that all that fear he held was for nothing. Since Y/n would do his job. And so y/n opened the book.
'I liked to write a lot. About my feelings, my life, as you can see right now. When I was little my father used to tell me 'i don't care what helps you release your thoughts, but just don't make it negative please' with that meaning that he didn't care what I needed to do to release my thoughts. As long as this thing wasn't negative. I had a friend you know, he used to drown his thoughts in drugs and alcohol.
3 years after his graduation he died. Alcohol poisoning. The sad thing really, because... Sometimes you don't notice the sadness there is in a person until they're gone. My father seems happy and all. But when I heard that back in Russia he had no one left, that eventually he was all alone and only had me and my mother I was... Afraid in a kind of way. I made myself the pact of never abandoning a child if I would have one.
And look what it all became. An empty promise.Don't make promises you can't keep.'
That sentence made her breath stop in her throat. The person writing this, she knew who this person was. And it was none other than her mother. Persephone Kalina.
Persephone Kalina, beautiful. Happy, cheerful. At least for a long time in her life, and that was until her daughter was born. Because that was when the fear started, a fear of strength, a fear of someone hurting her child. The fear of being a bad mother. And.. Persephone became what she always feared, a bad mother. She didn't leave for herself, she left for Y/n. Leaving because, in her head, she had that illusion as if she only attracts the bad. And Persephone never liked the bad, or the dark, she liked comfort. But that comfort died the day her brother died.
Because Persephone Kalina went through everything for him. And he went through everything for her. If she would think of the first thing she thinks of when she hears his name, it would be joy, happy memories. And all the tears they shared. They were twins after all. Juniper Kalina. A loved boy who didn't notice how loved he was.
She still remembers the moment she was ushered out of her class, her friends desperately trying to find Juniper with her. Persephone remembers running to every class to find where he is, many students and teachers were doing the same.
"Has anyone heard of Juniper?" a voice yells and another one yells back "No! Keep searching" Persephone's eyes were swollen, as she pressed the hand of Lily beside her tightly.
"Lily- I-i knew this would happen someday, I knew I would lose him in some way, but not this early" the girl cried gripping Lily robes who hugged her, and as Persephone sobbed she said "the shrieking shack!" and of course, the Marauders, Marlene and Lily had quick step as they walked outside and to the whomping willow Persephone long having ran of to it. Persephone's eyes teared up as they rushed in.
Lily was first inside. On the floor, she cried, sobbing she ran to him, kneeling beside him, grabbing his head placing it on her knees, "Oh juniper, no, this can't be. Please don't leave me" she whispered sobbing.
The others watching in shock, he was laying in a blood pool. Lily tells the boys to quickly go tell Minerva. Minerva! Nobody thought of her, as her son laid there.
Persephone cried pressing him tightly into her, the girls rushing to her, trying to find what was wrong with him.
"Oh Juniper, don't leave me" she whispered.
And Persephone cried, her head snapping in the direction of the door. There she was. Minerva was standing there staring at the two with an open mouth. Before rushing over. She rushed beside Persephone, trying to find anything wrong with the boy.
"I told you Juniper, I told you every time that you're my other half" Persephone whispered crying to him.
"Im sorry" Juniper opened his eyes slightly, crying himself. "Help me" he whispered in Russian, his hand finding his twins cheek. Who grabbed the hand and placed a kiss on it.
And as he blinked his eyes, Minerva kissed the boys head. Persephone still crying, and Minerva cast a healing spell but nothing healed. Persephone looked at his stomach "It- It was Sectumsempera. Juniper- don't you dare close your eyes" she whispered, and the room went silent.
Everybody knew Sectumsempera can't be reversed if not found out how to. And only a few people knew how to. Persephone cried as she looked at her twin. "Get her out of here" Minerva whispered to the guys. And Persephone didn't want to go, but she needed to. And as she pressed a kiss on his forehead she told him "we'll see us in another life. I promise" being held by lily as everyone walked out of the room. To this day, nobody knew what Minerva did once they were gone.
The story of Juniper Kalina was tragic, very, a boy who shouldn't have died. A boy who was murdered. But was he really?
Because what if after all, Persephone Kalina's twin, her other half, was still alive.
Will we ever know? Yes, we will.
