Chapter 16
Pulling up to the beach house, I turn to Archer, this is the most quiet I've seen him since he first moved in, and it’s all because of me and my big mouth. He swings open the car door, "Wait" I grab his arm, and he shrugs it off.
"What?" He gazes out the window, not looking at me.
"I didn't mean anything by what I said, I mean, I don’t not care, it’s just that it’s hard-"
"Don't worry about it; I know you didn’t mean anything by it. I'll see you inside; no doubt I’ll need a tour guide"
He gets out and takes his bags from the boot; I place Chester in the cage and pick up my bags, entering the house.
Well this has changed quite a lot since I was last here, the tiled floors have been replaced with nice polished wooden floor, so I take my shoes off the avoid scuffing them, walking in further I notice the old chandeliers have been taken down in favour of down lights, thank god I hated those chandeliers.
I wander through the house locating all of the changes, the kitchen has been re-done, mum went for a more modern silver with a red feature colour look, the lounge re-furnished with grey and red again, and the old box TV replaced with a HD 3D one and I’ve only been downstairs.
Archer follows after me ooh-ing and ahh-ing at all of the fancy things.
“Trust me it didn’t used to look like this” I put Chester’s cage down and watch as he rockets out, exploring his new place.
“What do you mean?”
“This is all new, mum got it re-done, we used to have all of these ugly chandeliers and a box TV, and they really bad grey tile, good thing she got it re-done” I tell him as I fill up Chester’s bowl and place it down somewhere he can reach it.
“I think you guys have really good taste in colours and must have a lot of money” he looks around mouth agape.
“Well, okay then, let’s go upstairs, I’ll show you the rest later” I pick up my bag and start walking
“You mean there’s more?” he asks as he follows me up the stairs
I just give him a duh look, we’ve only seen the lounge and the kitchen.
We walk up the stairs, following the new wooden floor all the way down halfway to my room, I open the door and evaluate what they did to it, the painting I bought to be the theme for my room is on the far wall and all of my things coordinate with it, even my bed spreads. It looks exactly like my designs.
"Wow, this house is huge"
"Not really. Your room is down the hall two doors and to the right" I say pointing
"Thanks" he walks out, I hear him marvelling at the raised glass ceilings as he goes.
I run and jump onto my bed, laying down and relaxing.
I almost, almost, get to sleep, but I hear a knock on my door.
"Is there any food?" Archer asks, again, does he ever stop eating?
I look up and find Archer standing in my doorway, he looks rather uncomfortable.
"No, I have money to go and get food, we have to go shopping, and do you ever think about anything but your stomach?"
"Yes, of course, like when the next shopping trip is, for more food... So no, not really." I nod and he leaves and goes back to his room.
I get up and unpack the camera we got, I'm going our document our shopping trip, I put the batteries in and insert the new SD card, this is going to be good and possibly slightly strange.
