Chapter 17

As we pull up into the garage, Archer shouts; "The whole family has arrived!" And takes like 16 bags up, I trail behind carrying 4 and my camera. At least I don't have to do two runs. I dump everything in the kitchen.

"Rein!" I yell, walking up the stairs, holding the camera out, recording everything.

He comes bursting out of the lounge meeting me in the hallway.

"Hey, what? Shit!" He isn't paying any attention, focusing on his phone which makes him almost walk straight into the camera.

"Oi no swearing at the camera, this is a school thing" I push it closer to his face, and he grabs it, putting his face right into the lens.

"Well if the school really wants to see what we do on holidays their getting the whole treatment, so fuck, Shit, poo" - he hands it back - "although I'm not sure the last one is a swear word" I laugh at his confused face.

"If you weren't my brother I would hit you" I close the camera and head upstairs, closing my door I change clothes. It’s definitely time I go for a run, I've been cooped up in a car all day and I just had a powerade, I'm ready to run.

"I’m going for a run" I walk into the kitchen to find Neville sitting on a stool, camera in hand, watching mine and Archer’s videos.

"What are you doing?" I snatch camera away.

"Just making sure he didn’t try anything, that's all"

"Well he didn't so it’s okay, I'm going for a run, and can you tell Rein" I sit down to tie up my shoes

"Why?" he ask confused

"Because we always run together, and I can't find him" I explain sitting back up

"REIN!" he shouts at the stairs; let the shouting matches’ begin.

"What?! He yells back

"Get your ass down here!"

"Why?" he whines, really loudly

"Raffe needs you!" Drops something very heavy and comes running. "See how easy was that?" he says to me

"What?" He bounds down the steps, concern written on his face.

"I'm going for a run, you coming?" He relaxes a bit and I give him a smile.

"Hell yeah, haven't been running for ages, I’ll be right back" he makes a mad dash upstairs, we listen and laugh as he curses banging all of his suitcases and draws, then thumping starts, looks like he's throwing things around his room, again.

He finally pounds down the stairs, wearing a black singlet that shows off his muscles and some black pants with his new Nike shoes.

"I'm ready" he proclaims and grabs two bottles of powerade from the fridge and pulls me out the door.

"Showing off your muscles for the ladies I see" I squeeze his arms that are rock solid.

"Shut up, I couldn't find my running shirt" he flushes a bit.

"Let's do this" we start at a steady jog, running down the side walk towards the shops. My feet slap on the hot pavement, this is why I run, this is the feeling I love. I love hearing the breath rushing inside my body, listening to it shoot back out with every step. The surge of power that shoots through my legs every time I take a leap, bounding towards the finish. I love how there is no definite end to where I can run, and the defiant beating of my heart as I push myself further. I keep pushing until I am ahead of Rein, we reach the shops and take a right, pounding up the hills, taking corners at random, coming over the top to see the amazing scene of the beach. Waves crashing, seagulls screeching, simply amazing.
