Chapter 20
I’ve got the perfect solution to not having to go home, and it involves a plane, some money, a very important phone call to Kat.
I am honestly so excited! This is my best idea yet, hopefully.
"Yes I'd like to book the plane out for today" I cheep into the receiver
"Certainly miss Woods, for what time?" he replies in his funny accent
"About 3.30 this afternoon thank-you"
"Certainly, it will be done, how many passengers?" His voice crackles over the line.
"Just the one thank-you George" I’ll have Kat come down for a couple of days, to take my mind off Archer and to help Neville apologise to him.
"It's all done, have Katherine arrive at 3 o'clock sharp please" I swear he is psychic
"Sure thing, thanks George" I click off and start my car, heading towards the mall, it’s just turned one and I need to call Kat to tell her the great news, and what better place to tell her than at a busy mall car park, no Neville or Rein around to ears drop on our conversation. It's the perfect location.
I text dad when I arrive in the packed parking lot, just to let him know that I am at the mall 'shopping', his reply to that was 'there's nothing like a little bit of retail therapy, have fun, but don't spend all of your money too fast' I swear my dad was meant to be a woman sometimes, either that or my mum texted back. I'd like to think it was the latter.
I take my phone off Bluetooth, it will not only save my ear but the people walking pasts to. Kat gets a little excited when you surprise her and I have a feeling that this will count as a mega surprise because not only does she only have two hours to pack but she also needs to find her way to the private airport we use. I dial the number, preparing for the onslaught on my ears
"Hey Kat" I hear my own excitement come through my voice
"Hey Raffe whatcha doing?"
"I was just wondering what you were doing for the next couple of days actually" I try and sound flippant.
"Oh god, I'm not doing anything, my dad just left for Europe so I have the whole house to myself, being bored for the rest of the holidays, how about you?" she sighs
"Oh I'm just hanging out with my best friend..." I trail of hinting to her.
"Oh calling to gloat, I see how it is" I can almost hear her grinning
"Yeah she's really pretty, got this amazing brown hair and really amazing teeth, and she happens to be going out with my brother" I always tell her how awesome it was that she was born with perfectly straight teeth.
"Ohmygosh Rein got a girlfriend!?" That's what she got out of that?
"No you idiot I'm talking about you, I plan on hanging out with you, gosh I swear you were born blonde" I face palm
"Aw really I'd love to, but my cars in the compound" she whines
"What did you do this time?" Something always happens for her to get her car taken off her in one way or another.
"I was parked in a no parking zone; if they were going to make it a non-parking zone they should have made the sign a bit bigger"
"Well that's too bad then... *sigh* maybe you could just get a taxi to our private airport, or I could even get George to come and pick you up"
"What are you talking about?" She sounds suspicious.
"You honestly didn't expect me to make you drive five hours did you?"
